@jamierkennedy Somewhat satisfyingly, 3 of the 4 golfers who have defended at Augusta are already on the list above. Including the Masters only adds one name (Rory).
@Bogeybvardier@NoLayingUp Not trying to shill and not really specific to NBC. I find the discourse around golf coverage quite odd and not really rooted in reality. I hope the coverage continues to improve but not expecting miracles.
@Bogeybvardier@NoLayingUp 1) I do not have to but have enjoyed their golf content for a long time. I am just providing feedback on the product 2) You think Sky has the same logistical challenges broadcasting The Open as NBC? They pay half as much in rights fees and broadcast in primetime in the UK.
@Bogeybvardier@NoLayingUp I agree it is a consensus but 1) The degree to which it dominates the commentary from NLU is overwhelming and heavily degrades the experience of following/listening esp on Sunday2) They rarely acknowledge any of the financial & logistical challenges of broadcasting golf in 2026
@aronpricepga@nbc@TheOpen You mean the ‘hydration breaks’ they added this year so they could stop the game and sell more commercials? There will also probably be around 10x the viewership for the World Cup Final later today compared to Open final round.
@cselley If they get to say 40 teams, not really sure why they can't split into 2 tiers from there even if the levels interact in different ways than traditional pro/rel.
