Don’t ask school leaders and teachers if they are happy to “have time off”. No, we are not happy and our hearts ache for our students. We want to be at school. We want to see our kids. We want to meet their needs. We want our normal back. #COVIDー19#PrincipalLife#BetterTogether
Resolutions at tonight’s school board meeting included recognition of EIS principal Dr. Deemer who received his doctorate, retiring Board member Ted Kachel, and board members with 8 years of service. Congrats! @EIMSMounts
Will we lean in, lean out, or run away? Derek Wenroth asks us to consider what we know and understand about knowledge, the brain, and learning as we learn from the past and look to the future! #becomingeasd#iNACOL19
Teachers and staff gathering together for professional learning. This is our reflective planning time where we look at instructional strategies that increase student learning. Great time of collaborating and sharing. #eisbuildingabetteryou
Love is the ultimate driver of grit and excellence:
1. If you love it, you’ll work hard to become great at it.
2. If you love what do you you won’t give up when the world says you should.
3. If you love your team you won’t quit on them.
4. Love casts out fear and fuels you.
If we assign a grade to everything students do, then we send a very loud and clear message to our students; grades matter most and learning/growth are secondary.
Grades alone don’t propel learning forward... actionable feedback and opportunity for recoverable revision do.
If we are asking educators to change their practice then we must work to create the same conditions/experiences during professional learning. Telling people what to do just doesn’t cut it. Showing and and modeling is what educators want and need.
