My question - is it possible to speed up the asteroid to get it back on a trajectory towards Earth after they slowed it down enough to capture it in Mars's orbit?
Thank you!
They attach rockets to the asteroid to slow it down - a short burn to slow it down near Mars to bend the trajectory towards Earth's orbit, a long burn would capture it in Mars's orbit.
The premise is that if the asteroid ends up in Mars's orbit, there's no way to get it to Earth
.@neiltyson I need your help to clarify the season finale of For all Mankind.
Spoilers ahead...
A valuable asteroid is passing near Mars. One group wants to capture it in Mars's orbit, another wants it in Earth's.

@eprombeats Sometimes I feel like the only one with this opinion, but I feel like his tunes are so boring. Nothing interesting composition wise, and the sound design is the same for every track.
