@KNOWITALLNYC11@Dedric_Mandel@BrianMcLight Also a great way to make new friends when you move to a new city, especially if you want something healthier and cheaper than going out/drinking.
@KNOWITALLNYC11@Dedric_Mandel@BrianMcLight We also get discounts on all races throughout the year, weekly calls on running safety and health with sports doctors and running experts, two guided and paced workouts a week with the run leads and the coach, and a members post-race party after the major races. Worth $100 imo.
Today, I spoke at an event in Stockholm about our colleague, Ukrainian journalist Viktoriya Roshchina. I had to turn off the camera right after my speech because it was difficult to contain my emotions.
Today, 13 world media outlets published investigations about the capture and death of Viktoriya Roshchina. I will leave links in different languages in the comments. And I will say a few words from myself.
Viktoriya was young, talented, dedicated to the journalistic profession, and incredibly brave. I met her 11 years ago when she joined our campaign to release illegally detained people in Crimea and eastern occupied territories.
In the first year of the full-scale invasion, she went to the occupied territories herself to write about illegaly detained people and disappeared. We already know that she was abducted, tortured, secretly transported to Russia, and detained there without any legal basis. We know that she did not receive medical care and weighed about 30 kg. But we still do not know how she died.
Russians refused to return her body for a long time. When they returned the body, it had a visible trace of torture and was missing several internal organs – eyeballs, brain, and part of the trachea.
Russians are even now hardly trying to hide what they did to her. That's why the investigation conducted by 50 journalists from 6 different countries around the world is so important.
Victoria believed in truth and justice so strongly that she knowingly risked her life to tell us what was happening in the occupied territories. We will continue her struggle.

💔1: Impossible to read the news about Victoriia Roshchyna without feeling tremendous pain & anger. Her body returned from russian captivity in such horrific condition, damaged from starvation & torture, that several DNA tests had to be performed to confirm her identity.
Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people.
Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.
The USAID workers who were offering an alternative to Ql Qaeda weren't sitting in safe offices, as Elon Musk does. They were out on the streets, going up against violent men and women who hate Americans and America. It was dangerous work. Not great pay. They did it because they knew it was making their country safer.
How does USAID help Americans?
One example:
When I was working in the Congo in their first (and only) elections, the civil war had ended with estimates of 50,000 orphans under 18 in the capital. Many had been forced into becoming child soldiers in civil war.
El Qaeda & other terrorist groups saw it as a Job Fair, recruiting by offering food, money, shelter, a way to get off streets.
USAID officials were fighting this by offering alternatives of job training, shelter, medical care, psychological help for the traumatized orphans.
I saw this work. Tens of thousands of potential terrorists were given an alternative life and embraced it with relief. No 12 year old wants to continue a life of violence and death if given another path.
This is soft power. We could have waited to confront the threat with our military. But it was far more efficient, cheaper, to spend USAID dollars than waiting until they were killing Americans.
Elon Musk has private body guards. Flies on private planes. He’s insulated from any danger.
Are you?
USAID is filled with idealistic people who work long hours, often in dangerous places, to save lives. Debate policy or spending levels all you want, but calling them evil or claiming that they hate America is truly disgraceful.
Breaking my silence on this platform as there seems to be a lot of people celebrating Bellingcat getting its USAID funding cut, but I regret to inform you that Bellingcat has never received funding from USAID, so better luck next time.
Nearly the entire global workforce of USAID will be put on leave by the end of the week. This weakens our security and stability, and we must take a stand.
Just 3 years ago Rubio wrote a letter to Biden suggesting they *increase* the USAID budget as a tool to “counter the CCP’s expanding global influence.”
Contradicting comments he made Monday that dismissed concerns of China stepping in where USAID left.

If USAID was actually the shadow government that controlled the entire world you think it is, at the cost of .1% of the federal budget that is truly amazing cost efficiency
@snake890682@ArmandDoma What are you talking about? Presidents can quite literally do a 180 on foreign policy. Exhibit A: President Jimmy Carter and US-China Relations.
What is happening to USAID will cost untold lives around the world, devastate America's standing, and massively empower China and other countries. There's no excusing it - it's a shameful, stupid, self-own without excuse and a harbinger of even worse to come.
Piers Morgan: "NATO is a defensive organization and has never acted aggressively…"
Tucker: "They were bombing the shit out of Christians in Yugoslavia…that was offensive…"
Trudeau cites how “Canadians fought and died” beside you. Cites Iranian hostage crisis. Hurricane Katrina. La fires. 911. “We were always there”. He is not wrong to cite these key moments. The sense of betrayal is palpable.
