@Thepassportguy@SBarrettBar It’s true. If you’ve ever watched ‘Yes Minister’ - that’s exactly what it’s like. Mrs Thatcher liked the show, but she thought it was a documentary. The CS make most of the decisions, the MPs just soak up the noise from the public when it all goes wrong.
@Saminvests98@martinmother1 I think most financial advisors recommend 3 - 6 months worth of essential outgoings as a reasonable amount.
Only c.25% of British people have a 3+ month savings cushion.
@CodaQueen@JamesMelville Yes! - a functional maths course would be brilliant. Young people need to understand bank accounts, mortgages, loans, credit cards, compound interest, insurance - practical finance for life. I left school 60 years ago - haven’t used a Venn diagram or a log table since!!
@ElvisCostello This is a magnificent album. So many brilliant songs, a masterclass in lyric writing, great arrangements, beautiful production. the band (and RPO) are excellent. These are some of Elvis’ very best songs, delivered with great conviction by a band in top form.
@francessmith But Andy wants Britain to be in a much bigger state than it is today. I feel confident he can achieve that objective, at pace and with ease.
@JamesMelville It would be helpful if there was a single parking app which could be used to pay for parking in all UK car parks. I understand there are currently around 30 apps in use.
@drhingram@Glinner@RupertLowe10@elonmusk HIGNFY is many years past its ‘sell by’ date. Hislop and Merton are clearly bored to tears with it, they get the questions in advance and still struggle to come up with anything funny. Another BBC dead horse.
@AnotherBdw@geoffreyMyers1@eddiedeanNYC3 I agree - I worked at More London Riverside next to City Hall and frequently saw him waking or cycling along Tooley Street - just another London commuter.
@emmalunn@HastingsDirect Could I suggest - never renew a policy, always change ins. provider every year. There's no reward for customer loyalty in insurance, you will invariably get a cheaper policy elsewhere. Or get another quote and use it to beat down @HastingsDirect's renewal quote.
@sofaseglerin@Beathhigh Mine too - Ken Stott was perfect casting - whenever I read a Rebus novel, that's the face I see. And Claire Price as DS Siobhan Clarke.
@turnitup211off Absolutely right! Those early ZZ Top albums were grubby, and all the better for it - zero production, just plug in and bang away - marvellous!
