@chaneilcimhoff A one time grant to homeowners for water self sufficiency coupled with a monthly bill credit would be a good idea. APUA collects revenue while the homeowner can actually live with dignity all while reducing the demand on the system so that there is more time to fix the root cause
@chaneilcimhoff My humble take. This would’ve been a good use of CIP funds. The whole country needs to get dug up so that these issues can be addressed. Not sure where else there is a pot of money to be had that is in line with the scale of the problem. People could pay Personal…wait nvm.
@isadwatson My wife and I are now splitting time between Miami and my home of Antigua. America has its advantages if you stay connected to it. Use them as necessary. Enjoy your Black life elsewhere.
@Ade_W@Ade_W there is a universe where some of the candidates who lost were among the rumored “disaffected group” that were open to challenging his leadership. Low key energy might be “good riddance”

@jmoulfrancis Public reaction is in proportion to the perceived scale of the problem and how identifiable it is. Easier to rail against specific flights carrying 200+ passengers that are believed to not be tourists, than the perceived 1 or 2 US/EU passengers that might come and not go back.
@jmoulfrancis The circumstances of the passengers entering Antigua and the implications for our own national security and geopolitical positioning should be of concern whilst firmly setting aside the vile rhetoric.
@jmoulfrancis Xenophobia is nothing new in our country and the expected outcome of exported narratives about Africa. I don’t expect everyone to be educated and the responsibility lies with those of us who know better to condemn such hateful perspectives.
@jmoulfrancis That viewpoint is extreme. However, the reporting does tell a story of exploitation of desperate migrants sold a dream of ultimately entering into other countries through illegal or legal (asylum) means. To call all or most of them tourists is a bit of a stretch imho
@azizalake Yeh I’ve seen posts tinged or soaked with it. Those perspectives are to be condemned. Point. Blank. Period.
Separate from that though the immigration questions are of serious national consequence and those deserve answers.
Hadn't seen this documentary yet. Nominated for an Emmy Award. This reminds me why our fight for the Virginia Key Beach Trust is so important.
