I got sucked into a book today (Superfans by @PatFlynn). It’s hard to put it down long enough to refill my coffee. I haven’t finished it so I can’t recommend it just yet, but the experience has reminded me of the power of the written word and the joy of reading it! #bookish
#Stories have the power to connect in a way that analytical reasoning cannot. My story about a sea gorilla portrays the cost of #lying. It can destroy our credibility, hurt other people, and leave us wounded, wallowing in self-disappointment. #youngreaders https://t.co/vZzjykSJ4C
"John the Baptizer...humbly confesses that the gifts of salvation and of the Spirit are not his to give but another’s—a good model for modern-day preachers." - David E. Garland #homiletics#preachers#preaching
I’m hoping to finish the rough draft of my #youngreader’s novel this week. It’s a wild tale that I hope will keep some young people reading. I also hope God will use it to teach them some truths. I just realized I wrote hope 3 times, so I guess that’s what #writing is about. 😀
Today I preached a message on #forgiveness. This may be one of the hardest things we're called to do as believers, but for those of us who have been forgiven so much we must forgive as we have been forgiven.
Here's a rough draft of the cover of my young reader's #novel. I'm hoping to have it released before summer! Please share to help me get the word out. #fiction#youngreaders
The other eleven disciples didn’t completely reject the faith, and stop believing in Jesus for the rest of their life, because of the actions of Judas.
If the actions of others wreck your faith, then you must honestly ask yourself, “Was my hope in Jesus or people?”
As a young college student I thought #fiction was a waste of time until I read a #Grisham#novel and saw how many ideas were communicated through the story. What are you thoughts about using fiction to communicate profound truths?
I've been preaching a series this year on Healthy Habits for Spiritual Growth. I'm trying my best to live it first and then preach it. I'm convinced that much of who we are and where we are in life is the result of our habits. #spiritualgrowth#preaching
