“Before we were
evacuated I had my wedding rings and my Mom's wedding ring on so I didn't forget them. My hands were so dry I kept putting on lotion and I worried my rings would fall off! So I set them by the front door next to my keys so l wouldn't forget them. In a rush early Wednesday I ran out the door and forgot my rings. It was all I could think about. So Nick, Effie, Sienna & I decided we had to try to find them! We snuck our way up to the house. Effie was digging and searching on one side and me on the other. Effie found a melted piece of platinum and I assumed that was my band and my ring. We ran into some firefighters when we were visiting a friends house also lost in the fire. They asked if we needed anything and I said 'yea can you help me find my mom's ring" thinking I had my wedding rings already. As the firefighters searched one of them said "oh I found a ring but it's not gold". It was my wedding band!!!! Round and perfectly intact. I couldn't believe it. Many thanks to Brandon and Wes for being on the ground hands and knees finding my wedding band. Forever grateful.”
