@melissainzurich@IPipyn@ArmeniaTrader@KyleMau The USA has more registered cars than registered drivers…but yes, while in Europe (in total) over 80% of households, in the USA over 90% of households have a car. But that’s all of Europe, not just western Europe.
@ArmeniaTrader@Toerwoud@KyleMau Walkable means you don’t NEED a car. It doesn’t mean you CANNOT have a car. And most walkable areas have grocery stores 5-10 minutes on foot and well functioning public transport.
@KyleMau You do understand that people live there, right? Normal people live in normal apartments in „tourist centers“ because they are just part of the cities. And walks unity does NOT exclude car traffic in general.
@kim_Kash7409@iyannayaya1@Rajani_Isa@millihill@Independent If the child is young enough to get trapped in a car it’s young enough to need supervision. The fact that the mother was napping with the other child makes it even worse that he didn’t check on the toddler. This could have been anticipated to some extent.
@kim_Kash7409@millihill@Independent So he was negligent by not watching his child for long enough to climb into the car and die? And leaving the car unlocked.
@6igantuar@millihill@Independent The father’s negligence lead to the child‘s preventable death. 🤷♀️ Anyone who does not pay close attention to the people they are supposed to care for in this unusual heatwave is negligent.
@kim_Kash7409@millihill@Independent Not every scenario but surely a parent should be able to anticipate leaving a kid in a car in this heat will kill them. If the dad was supposed to take care of the toddler and left them in the car to go gardening, he can absolutely be blamed even if he didn’t do it on purpose.
@javisaidathing@dustbnuy Are you comparing two regions with completely different climates? Southern US states need AC because the houses are not built with insulation. Most of Europe has a long history of adapting the building style to the circumstances. Most of Europe hasn’t needed AC so far.
@ilphen@txgermanbre It‘s not dumb but you don’t have to work for the government or have studied this to know what a minijob is. Most Germans of working age know although their knowledge in the income limit might not be up to date.
@hankgreen „The left“ is usually not generally anti-ac. The left is anti-„the cost of ac“. No one has a problem with properly used heating or cooling as long as it doesn’t add further unnecessary damage to the already caked environment.
@Stoffel68942307@KernNiko Oh man, egal wo man im politischen Spektrum angesiedelt ist, versteht man hoffentlich warum dieser Post eher begrenzte Denkweite zeigt. 🤦♀️
