Helping Gilbert and Gabriel get out of that “farm” was, without question, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ll never be the same.
RIP Gilbert, my sweet little lurky, you were a miracle. I will always be so so grateful you came into my life.
RESCUED: Meet Gilbert and Gabriel, two baby turkeys who were on the verge of death at a @Jennieo turkey farm. These two turkeys were rescued the same night Wayne Hsiung was jailed and just weeks before Joe Biden "pardoned" two other turkeys from Jennie-O.
Thank you to @keyseeya for exposing Jennie-O and for rescuing Gilbert and Gabriel.
Years ago I was shocked by images like this of Korean farmers burying pigs alive during an FMD outbreak.
Right now, US egg factory farms are killing millions of animals by an even crueler method: baking them alive.
Brooke Rollins could end this with the stroke of a pen.
This is an important comment. Dems listen too much to "the groups" is being coded as an anti-leftwing view, but it's about a broader culture of coalitional cowardice that often doesn't have a strong ideological view one way or the other. It just doesn't want anyone inside the tent to be too upset.
We are learning in real time that the loudest elements of the American Left are truly uninterested in corporate power or economic policy. It’s incredibly clarifying, and likely one of the reasons the American Right has been able to pretend it is the populist brand.
Nearly 20 years today the DOJ kicked in my door and arrested me for my role campaigning against this company.
Today the DOJ levied the largest ever recorded fine in an animal cruelty case against this same company.
The arc of the universe is long.

The National Chicken Council wants plant-based meats to be "labeled in a way that clearly explains ... how they were made."
Which is a principle I agree with ... and would love to see applied to factory farmed chicken.
Is there anything more telling than looking at something the typical American considers innocuous at worst, but that the powers that be are so afraid of that they’re legislating to ban it?
The Climate Movement is ineffectual because it thinks the problem is irrationality.
The problem is not irrationality but entrenched power that creates irrationality.
The target should not be irrationality but power.
Dismantling entrenched power requires something it never talks about - until now... Revolution.
The way I see it we can spend our one life killing other beings or saving them. I’m too far gone now to be able to understand why which of those options is better is a controversial question.

All of us alive in this moment have the opportunity to use our lives to save the lives of others. Don’t waste that. #RightToRescue #ProsecuteReichardt
@briebriejoy Can we get an #assomeonewhoplayed hashtag going?
@Matt_J_1 : "as someone who once played Mr. Beaver in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe..."
Me: "as someone who played a starfish in an underwater-themed musical..."
.@voxdotcom deputy editor @mbolotnikova wrote 3,500+ words about the Sonoma Rescue Trial, covering the judge’s baffling rulings, the ties between county law enforcement and the farm bureau, unique challenges in this #RightToRescue case, and most importantly, what this verdict means for the animals rights movement going forward as it grapples with how much risk to take. Marina writes, “To most people, it may be hard to understand why someone would risk incarceration to rescue a symbolic number of animals from a factory farm. Earlier this year, I asked a few DxE activists how they decided they could be okay with risking a felony conviction or a prison sentence. They said, simply, that they felt they had no choice but to intervene. If society was going to criminalize people for rescuing animals from grievous suffering, they couldn’t fathom agreeing to play by such a perverse set of rules.”
