What is Capital Gains?

Capital gains is the profit you make when you sell something (like real estate, stocks, or other investments) for more than what you paid for it.

In Canada:
50% of your capital gain is taxable.

So if you make a $500 capital gain, $250 is added to your income and taxed at your marginal tax rate.
