It takes a lot to be a stakeholder in Indian football. It has been like that for some time now. But when everything around looks like it will crumble, you bank on family to hold on to each other. And more often than not, it is the elders in the house that you turn to, for assurance. All of you at the TATA Group, through TFA first, and then @JamshedpurFC, have been one of our pillars.
To know that Jamshedpur has folded first team operations is a punch to the gut. The players and staff will be without clubs, and they might find one by the end of it all. The League will have a team less, but the season will go on. However, not having the TATA group involved in the top tier of Indian football - that would be a disaster with no alternative.
I understand that some tough decisions in sport are down to what makes sense in the board room. But I can only request and hope that the think tank at TATA picks their heart over head and reconsiders this call. It might be a poor business decision, but it will be the one Indian football needs the most at this hour.

Dear Indian media, pls sensitise and educate yourself on why pedestrians come first and cars second.
Please educate yourself and educate the public rather than opposing such courageous decisions by administrators to make our cities more liveable!!

🚇 Ahmedabad Metro Ridership – Strong Year-on-Year Growth!
📊 February Ridership Comparison:
• Feb 2023: 12.31 Lakh
• Feb 2024: 25.38 Lakh (+106.2% YoY)
• Feb 2025: 34.48 Lakh (+35.9% YoY)
• Feb 2026: 45.31 Lakh (+31.4% YoY)
📈 Overall Growth (2023 → 2026): +268%
This remarkable growth clearly shows that Ahmedabad citizens are rapidly embracing Metro as a reliable public transport option.
What makes this achievement even more significant is that this ridership growth has happened despite major gaps such as:
• Limited last-mile connectivity
• Lack of Pay & Park facilities at many stations
• Inadequate multimodal integration with AMTS / BRTS
• Need for better feeder services and pedestrian access
💡 Imagine the potential once these supporting systems are strengthened.
With improved last-mile connectivity, station area planning, feeder buses, cycling access and parking facilities, Ahmedabad Metro ridership can easily cross the 1 lakh daily average mark consistently and grow much faster.
🚆 The demand is clearly visible — people are ready for public transport.
Now the next step is strong integration and commuter convenience.

AMTS is at a turning point
AMTS Lal Bus has been the backbone of public transport in Amdavad for decades, carrying nearly 4 lakh passengers every single day. Despite this massive ridership, the system has been functioning with minimal and outdated infrastructure. Most bus shelters are old in design, ticketing is still largely paper based, bus schedules are unclear to the public, and timings often feel known only to the administration. On many routes, buses run at intervals of 15 to 25 minutes, and that too only during certain hours. Frequency is inconsistent, overcrowding is common, and operational discipline remains a concern. Drivers sometimes stop one lane away from the bus stop, increasing safety risks, and occasionally buses skip stops altogether. Even with these shortcomings, AMTS has continued to keep the city moving, which itself speaks volumes about its importance and resilience.
However, time changes and this is clearly the beginning of a new era for AMTS. The first 28 electric buses out of a total 225 have already been introduced on the streets of Amdavad. This is only the starting phase. AMC is planning to double the AMTS fleet, and the central government has also allocated 1000 electric buses for the city. By rough estimation, this could mean nearly 2000 new buses added to the fleet over the next two to three years. Alongside AMTS, BRTS is also receiving new 12 meter electric buses, and a new depot is being developed in Chandkheda to support this expansion. To handle the growing fleet, AMC is planning 10 new depots along the SP Ring Road and two new bus terminals in Sarangpur and Meghaninagar. These depots along the ring road will significantly improve fleet management capacity and allow for more modern maintenance and charging infrastructure.
That said, increasing the number of buses alone will not solve all issues. Operational reforms are equally critical. AMTS must invest more in driver training and discipline, ensuring that buses follow traffic rules, stop properly near designated bus shelters, and maintain consistency in service. Electric buses, especially in their early days, require careful maintenance and trained technical handling. At the same time, modern bus shelters are urgently needed across the city. Proper bus lay by areas should be clearly marked in yellow or white as designated stop zones. Shelters should include LED screens displaying estimated arrival times, adequate lighting for nighttime safety, and clear route maps showing all major stops. Standardization of shelter design across Amdavad would improve both usability and identity of the system.
One of the biggest expected benefits of fleet expansion is improved frequency. Currently, most routes operate with long intervals, which discourages people from relying on buses. With the incoming fleet, frequency on major corridors should ideally improve to 7 to 10 minutes. New and rapidly growing areas such as Thaltej, Gota, Adalaj, and Vastral also require proper terminus planning to ensure full network coverage. Integration with Metro and BRTS must be seamless to create a truly connected public transport ecosystem. If planned correctly, this expansion can reduce overcrowding, make commute times more predictable, enhance safety, and encourage more people to shift from private vehicles to public transport.
As someone who has used AMTS and BRTS for the past 15 years and Metro from day one, this transformation feels both necessary and overdue. Amdavad does not lack demand for public transport. It lacks consistent execution standards. The buses are coming, the depots are coming, and the investment is happening. Now the focus must be on infrastructure quality, operational discipline, transparent information systems, and improved frequency. If AMC aligns all these aspects together, AMTS can truly enter a new era and once again become the pride of everyday commute in Amdavad.

@meh_176 @AmdavadAMC@AmitThakerBJP@sanghaviharsh I have seen it several time on SP ring road and couple of times on Vaishnodevi Circle/KD hospital. So bus has been started I believe.
A new #AMTSbus started from Applewood to Vaishnodevi 999/1 however it's schedule is not available on AMTS website, which is really inconvenience for people to use public transport. Can we get it's information available digitally? @AmdavadAMC@AmitThakerBJP@sanghaviharsh 🙏🏽
