💥Raw Footage - Dive Blocking💥
What do you see here?
🔴Rapid out
🔴Balanced
🔴Stay big
🔴Footwork
🔴Eyes on ball
🔴Close gap/nudge attacker off balance (ah ref 😂)
🔴Execute block/ big strong hands on ball
Work on these both sides in controlled drills and nail it. 👊
💥Raw Footage💥 Was explaining to young keepers last night the importance of owning your area, of dominating, of exuding confidence, and this high ball set with Niall sums it up.
Practice with pressure, call loudly when you need, bring that immense vertical and that security. 👊
As an Armagh fan I would have loved to see this hit the net but well done to Patton for getting down the line of the shot and making an excellent 1v1 save.
Get your goalkeeper lining up forwards, timing the run to the shooter, staying big and being brave to make the save

In the ever evolving GAA goalkeeper position, it’s easy to forget about the fundamentals and @Shaunpatton95 shows the skill of “getting down the line of shot” perfectly with this save against Armagh today (although as an Armagh fan I wish he hadn’t) … 🧵1/6
When the trigger is pulled, Shaun is very hard to beat, angle is correct body is in the way there’s even two arms and hands to try and get past. Importantly chest is forward, not leaning back and no diving out of the way too early.. 5/6
