Sometimes I think of the Twilight Zone where Dick York wished to hear everyone's thoughts but then after like 8 hours it was so awful he took it back.
That's what we're pretty much subjecting ourselves to every day using Twitter
@TheEricGoldman One time I went to the theater for an afternoon show of Predatory: Badlands and they for some switched the theater to a different show (it was odd-maybe bc I used the Regal pass & it was only me?)
I talked to management and they legit set up the movie for me in an unused theater
@SteveGelbs The most frustrating thing about this (lost) season is the Mets will have wins where you're like "Yup, this is how this was supposed to look" and then they turn around and play 3 straight games of clown ball
If you ever for some reason wonder why we have pride celebrations, just read the comments of this post to for a reminder of how much bigotry and homophobia there still is - just triggered from an innocuous post!
We're no where close yet to we need to be
LINDOR: Who's that?
SOTO: Eric...I wanna say Wackyman? Can that be right?
LINDOR: Who's that?
SOTO: Zack Short. He's a goner so don't worry about him
LINDOR: Carlos is still here. Interesting
SOTO: Isn't it though?
@Jolly_Olive I think club house issues are only issues when teams are losing because they're not good enough
But I would argue 24 had leaders/established players who prob already commanded respect w/Nimmo, Lindor (hurt this year), Alonso, McNeil. This year it's who? Soto, Baty, Vientos?
@NotTheHOFer@SNY_Mets Listening, it sounds like he says βif I live in this spaceβ¦β which is a crucial omission. The message is he canβt live there I believe
David Stearns was asked why he thinks Mets fans should have confidence in him to help turn things around:
"I understand fans' skepticism. If I were sitting in the fans' seat, I would share that.
From my perspective, what I can do and what I will do is, for as long as I'm sitting in this seat, work as hard as I can with the people around me to do everything we can to push this organization forward. I think we're going to be able to do that."
@PSLToFlushing Had to happen but honestly feels like Stearnβs roster construction and poor play from the players got him fired more than anything he did
But itβs hard to know what the managerβs impact is nowadays
BREAKING: In its next CBA, the league is proposing a max contract length of 5 yrs for free agent players switching teams, 6 years to retain their own players. No deferred contracts. Qualifying offer is gone too. Also, 5 years to free agency for players 30 or older.
@SNY_Mets@chelsea_janes@mmargaux8 The way Stearns has operated with short contracts, every year is a chance to retool - almost to a fault. Only person he acquired last year in the lineup that will definitely be here next year is Polanco (I think?). maybe Bo
