On the season, Garcia is posting:
34.2 IP
37.4 K% / 8.6 BB% / 15.8 SwStr%
3.12 ERA / 3.26 FIP / 3.43 xERA
I have no clue how he hasn't cracked the big leagues yet. There's no one in Louisville even touching these numbers either that doesn't have a double digit walk rate.
Per FanGraphs, a "meltdown" is when a reliever's win probability added is -0.06 or worse in a game (i.e., they lowered their team's win probability by 6% or more).
The Reds' bullpen now has 35 meltdowns since May 1, by far the most in baseball. Tigers are the next closest at 27.
11th bullpen loss since May 1st.
11th blown lead in 36 games
Reds are 12-24 in those 36 games. ELEVEN OF THEM are from that bullpen. Unbelievable. Season altering levels of bad.
4th straight series loss after what seemed like it could’ve been a nice comeback series win. Ugh.
This will be a circulating narrative that I strongly disagree with.
Elly had been dealing with a groin injury last year, not hamstring (what he came out with today).
He scored from 1st, literally today. He looked great today. Not everything has to be blamed on someone. It sucks he’s hurt. Hope it’s best case scenario and move on. No denying how big of a loss it’d be. Guys gotta step up while he’s out.
Bad loss after bad loss compounding.
4-13 this month.
6th blown lead in 17 games this month. An amazing April, followed by a disastrous May. The fight of the offense continues to be for naught, because the pen absolutely sucks. Not a single reliable arm there.
Back to .500 where they’re most comfortable. Another 77-82 win season incoming.
#Reds are 24-23 total:

So the Reds offense has undoubtably been *good* for the large chunk of the year, the issue? The Reds have a 5.25 TEAM ERA since 4/13. The 2nd highest in MLB.
