someone told me yesterday that when they feel nervous about trying something new & their heart starts beating really fast, that they call it their “inner applause” because their body is cheering them on, and i think that’s the best narrative adjustment ever.
in order to become a better person, you must first realize how horrible you really are. not in the dramatic sense, but in the quiet ways you sabotage yourself, repeat unhealthy patterns, hurt people who care about you, or tolerate what wounds you. you cannot grow if you keep pretending you’re innocent in the story you’ve created.
My therapist once told me: Imagine being bitten by a snake and, instead of treating the bite, you waste time chasing the snake to understand why it bit you and prove you didn't deserve it.
The other day I was watching a space documentary (can’t remember which one), and it said:
“When you’re lying on the grass on a clear night, looking at the sky, you may get a strange feeling… that you’re not actually looking up. You’re looking down. Beneath you is an endless abyss of empty space, and the only thing keeping you from falling into it is gravity holding you to the Earth.”
I’m telling you… I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.
Had you ever heard that before?
temenku pernah bilang: “saya tau kalau saya punya tempat buat bersujud. tapi saya juga ingin dipeluk.”
kalimat itu bikin aku langsung mewek, manusiawi banget. iman kuat, tapi tetap butuh pelukan & kehangatan manusia. keduanya penting.
One thing i like about us is that we don't have to worry about showing our feelings. No strategy, no pretending, no tarik-ulur, no jual mahal
Just pure, genuine attention and affection☺️
mungkin gue sebenernya uda hidup di doa dan mimpi yg gue harapkan itu cuma ga sadar aja. soalnya ketika kita grow, ekspektasi kita berubah lagi ke referensi lain. padahal yg sekarang mungkin harapan kita yg waktu dulu.
ga sengaja liat kebelakang, ternyata banyak doa yang pelan-pelan terkabul. ga selalu sesuai timing aku, tapi selalu tepat. sampai akhirnya aku sadar, hidup yang lagi aku jalani ini adalah doa yang dulu selalu kuucapkan.
Gimana tanda kalo dia adalah jodoh kita?
Rasa tenang.
Bukan perasaan yg menggebu2, tapi ada perasaan tenang yg aneh. Seperti pulang ke rumah setelah lama pergi. Seolah kita yakin, kalo dia jodoh kita. Bukan cuma cocoklogi.
Selanjutnya, kita jg ngerasa jadi diri sendiri. Gak ada yg namanya kepura2an. Gak selalu jaim di depan dia. Gak ada kekurangan yg ditutupi. Dgn jodoh, topeng itu jatuh dgn sendirinya.
Tanda lainnya, kalo diskusi sm dia kerasa beda. Sekalipun beda pendapat atau berdebat. Marah, tapi gak pengen menyakiti. Capek, tapi gak pengen pergi.
The Corgi was the one leading them home
The German Shepherd was injured
The dogs kept a protective formation around the German Shepherd
The Corgi stopped often to make sure they were still okay
It took them 2 days to get home
They are neighbourhood friends
I’m going to cry😭😭😭
turns out the aurora scene in Pavane wasn’t CGI at all. They actually flew to Iceland and the director filmed the scene himself without his team and it ended up being the most beautiful scene in the entire movie!!
Being in a healthy relationship really taught me there's no such thing as 'that's just the way I am'. When you truly love someone you work on those toxic traits, you learn to communicate, you actively listen to each others thoughts & feelings – you adjust, grow & heal together.
After you get married, you’re going to meet ‘better’ people than your spouse. You’re going to meet more good-looking people; kinder and more romantic people; more intelligent and funny people. You will meet people who have in abundance what your partner lacks. The mushy and romanticized idea that your partner will be everything to you, and will satisfy all your needs and wants is idolatry. Contentment in marriage is a virtue not often spoken about.
You must wake up every day appreciating everything your partner is to you, everything they have, their beauty and the things that made you marry them because if you focus on everything they don’t do well, you’ll always meet better people. Protect your heart! See their best part, and always remember that your commitment to marry is more of a duty than it is of mushy feelings. You have to stay committed even on the days you feel your spouse is no longer the best fit for you…
