NEW: we need to talk about NHS staff retention.
At a time when Britain’s healthcare system is acutely short of workers, *1 in 7* UK-trained doctors are practising overseas. No other developed country is like this, which immediately tells you there’s a problem.
Let’s dig deeper:
In response to the misleading figures used in the tweet below from @DHSCgovuk 👇 BMA Council Chair @DrPhilBanfield has today written to the Cabinet Secretary to request a formal investigation to see if it has broken civil service code.
Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average.
What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3
This is Barclay’s statement to the House of Commons about pay negotiations with doctors…
…stating they refuse to negotiate unless the govt “commit to a 35% pay rise”.
And here also, the BMA letter stating in relation to preconditions: “we have none”.
Barclay lied to HoC!
As the government tries to legislate to force the NHS to refer to the private sector, here is the endpoint.
Quite simply, there will be even fewer resources to manage healthcare needs in the U.K.
Don't let them get away with it!
“I'm shocked that she wasn’t already dead.”
Undercover footage for @C4Dispatches shows how a 90-year-old waited for nearly four hours on an icy pavement for an ambulance to arrive after she fell outside her home. #C4UndercoverAmbulance
@British_Airways My car seat arrived and I was able to travel. Thank you. I have claimed for compensation for the taxi I had to take from airport and for the parking we had to pay whilst waiting to establish where my car seat was. I have not heard back yet.
@British_Airways my car seat was lost from LHR-ABZ 27/12. The number you provided for Eagle Aviation does not work. Need car seat to legally travel from ABZ-EDI tomorrow. You will need to provide me with either my own car seat asap or a loaner one for this journey to be legal
@askryanair are there any limitations to the type of pram we can bring on a flight? We have a newborn who needs to travel flat in a non-collapsable carrycot attached to a collapsible pram frame. Thank you
