At least 20 people have been killed and 70 others injured in an explosion targeting a train transporting military personnel in Pakistan.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) separatist group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a suicide bombing.

I am absolutely appalled by today's cowardly terrorist attack on a train in Quetta, which has left at least 24 people dead and several more injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the martyrs and their families.
So proud of Mummy’s school and the incredible difference it is making ❤️
Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces today says everything. So many disadvantaged children are being given opportunities they may otherwise never have had. @AlfajrTrust
Delighted and honoured to have been invited to speak at the launch event celebrating the appointment by Vice-Chancellor Professor David Mba and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Hanifa Shah OBE of Professor Islam Issa as Birmingham City University’s Professor of Public Humanities.
His appointment is a fitting recognition of his scholarship, public engagement, and leadership.

‘This protracted period of internal fighting doesn’t help the party.’
Khalid Mahmood believes it will be difficult to replace the councillors who lost their seats in the local elections, saying Keir Starmer should have taken responsibility for the significant loss.
Great to meet, from left to right:

An officer from a Special Forces unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

'The electorate spoke during the local elections.'
Former Labour MP Khalid Mahmood says Sir Keir Starmer needs to take responsibility for the Labour Party's failings.
Great to join friends and old comrades to say farewell @Ms_SThompson and her outstanding service to Birmingham. Thank you, Sharon, for the invitation,it was wonderful to be there.
As Sharon said, this isn’t the end of her journey, but the start of a new chapter. Wishing her every success in what comes next.
I strongly condemn the stabbing that took place today in North London. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and all those affected by this shocking incident.
Violence has no place in our streets or in our society. I stand in full solidarity with the Jewish community and with all those impacted, and remain committed to promoting peace, compassion, and respect.
I have shared my views with @olleyatGRIT on the Birmingham local elections and the challenges facing Labour in the city. Voters want competence, restored trust and a council focused on delivery. Birmingham often signals the wider mood. https://t.co/2UaXpKEVZY
Proud to be working with Di Vernon MBE, Nigel Taylor, Wayne Davenport, Katie McPhilimey, Paul O’Hagan, Richard Turner, Dr Nicky Westwood, Martyn Green, Paul Squire, Adil Manzoor, Dr Janie Frampton OBE and Lisa Capper MBE.
Delighted to have been elected Chair of @Employ_UK Enterprise and Partnership Board. Looking forward to working with an outstanding group of leaders to create real opportunities, improve employability&help people build brighter futures. Thanks to Di Vernon for her hard work, commitment and vision.
I have always opposed anyone spreading hate speech being allowed into the UK. Home Secretary @ShabanaMahmood should have refused Valentina Gomez entry, as Kanye West was previously barred. The same rules should apply to anyone promoting religious hatered, racism and division.
Great to catch up with Lucy Hodson, reflecting on community engagement we did through respective organisations with my father in Sparkbrook, helping people engage locally &seek constructive action from authorities. Sad to see Sparkbrook fall further into deprivation&unemployment
