MMU expresses outrage Over Pork Products on Blinkit, Asks the Company to immediately remove them from their Stock to sell in Kashmir

Srinagar, August 06, 2026: Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu & Kashmir expressed outrage and shock after screenshots shared by people brought to its notice that pork products are being listed for sale on the online delivery platform Blinkit in Kashmir.

MMU said that while it is generally know to all that pork sale or consumption is prohibited in Islam , and Muslims are very sensitive to this matter , how was it allowed to enter the market for sale ? This matter should be seriously investigated by the authorities and those involved warned .
The Majlis asked Blinkit to take immediately take the products off their shelves and seriously ensure that pork products are neither stocked, advertised nor sold in Kashmir. It said that businesses operating in the region have to respect religious and cultural sensitivities of the region and act responsibly.

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Masjid Sharif Khulafay-i-Raashideen, Held at Kadi Kadal Srinagar.

The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Masjid Sharif Khulafay-i-Raashideen, Kadi Kadal, was held today in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere, marking the beginning of a significant religious and community project.

The foundation stone was laid by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, in the presence of masjid community members, and local residents.

The occasion was marked by prayers and religious observances, with participants expressing hope that the new Masjid will serve as an important centre for worship, religious education, spiritual guidance, and community welfare.

The gathering concluded with prayers for the successful completion of the Masjid and for peace, prosperity, and unity among the people.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala accept this noble endeavour and make it a source of Sadaqah-e-Jariyah for all those associated with it. Ameen summa Ameen.

The recent rainfall has once again exposed the serious drainage problems in the Downtown area of Srinagar. The photographs clearly show extensive waterlogging in the residential lane, with rainwater accumulating around homes and posing a serious inconvenience and potential safety risk to residents.
Repeated waterlogging can damage houses, create unhygienic conditions, affect daily life, and pose risks to pedestrians and commuters.
We urge the concerned authorities, including the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and local administration, to take immediate steps for proper drainage, and a permanent solution to this recurring problem.
We request the concerned authorities to kindly take urgent action and address the issue at the earliest.

@Asifnisarzargar @XEN_EDIV_KPDCL Electric meters have been installed in every part of the city but when there is an urgent need for electricity, unscheduled power cuts, frequently cutting of electricity has become a daily routine nowadays.
We request to the concerned authorities, kindly look into this matter.

At first we were told that if we install the meters, we would be given 24-hour electricity supply.
In this harsh winter,Twice a week there is a complete shutdown for the whole day, and today the power went out around 1:PM and it still hasn’t returned.

For the second consecutive Friday, I have been denied permission to go to Jama Masjid. At will, the authorities curb our basic rights.Heavens would not have fallen if we had been allowed to participate in the janazah of Prof. Bhat Sahib, and offer duas for the departed soul. Are the authorities so afraid of the dead! To be locked up in my home week after week, barred from entering the historic Jama Masjid is nothing but proof that we are living under an authoritarian setup. Denying us the right to honour our leader and pay him our last respects and share our grief collectively at their passing away and forcibly preventing from praying in mosques is highly condemnable. Brute power cannot silence faith and the yearning for dignity and justice.

For second consecutive Friday I remain under house detention — with every lane and by-lane to my residence barricaded, causing inconvenience to the entire neighbourhood . Let me make it clear to the rulers , the memory of our martyrs cannot be regulated by them. It resides in our hearts . Facts and history cannot be erased by lockdowns and barring people from visiting the martyrs graveyards or stopping me from going to Jama Masjid on Fridays , not by appeasing narratives or shameful communal distortions, if it resides in the collective memory of people, which it does. The Marty’s of July 13 1931 were the frontrunners of the political movement in Kashmir; a people’s just struggle against oppression. They are and will remain our inspiration.

Another Friday, another house arrest and the authorities Jama Masjid phobia continues. Meanwhile as things are fast regressing for Muslims in this country, latest being the highly marginalising Wakf Bill, it doesn’t seem far fetched that soon permissions may be sought and permits issued after verification, for Muslims to enter their mosques or be buried in their graveyards.
