Who was Hassanally Effendi?
Hassanally Effendi (1830-1895) was the greatest reformer & educationist of Sindh. He established the first ever modern educational institution in Sindh in 1885, where Quaid-e-Azam too received his education for 4.5 years, under his direct supervision. He helped Turkey in war against Russia in 1870s, and was awarded Turkish titles of Effendi & Bey by Ottoman Caliph. He was also appointed the first honorary Turkish Counsel in Karachi, hence is considered the pioneer of relations between Turkey & the regions comprising present Pakistan. Quaid-e-Azam remembered him very fondly.
