Crimson sunbird:
Did you know that Crimson Sunbird is the national bird of Singapore where it is commonly known as the "Merlion".
Shot using #Nikon at Kotdwar Uttarakhand
The Crimson Sunbird feeds mainly on nectar from flowers, and plays an important role in pollinating plants in its habitat. In addition to nectar, it also feeds on insects such as ants, beetles, and spiders, which it hunts by gleaning or hovering near foliage. During breeding season, Crimson Sunbirds may also consume fruits and berries for additional nutrients.
Their long, curved bills are well-suited for reaching into the narrow tubes of flowers to extract nectar, and their brush-tipped tongues help them to lap up the sugary liquid. The Crimson Sunbird's feeding habits make it an important pollinator for a variety of flowering plants in its range, contributing to the maintenance of the ecosystem's biodiversity.
