Had a chance to go over KP’s Mines and Minerals Bill 2025 that is pitched as “much needed” regulatory framework for ‘investment’ and ‘transparency’ in minerals sector.

But between the lines in that 139 page long document is all extraction and politics to essentially transfer the power of Mines and Minerals in KP to unelected entities (take a guess).

Its aim to create a centralised authority is very much inspired by SIFC to bypass law, regulations, and accountability but most importantly open up space for “Milbus” to take control of the KP mineral industry.

It’s exactly on the same lines as land takeover in large parts of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, or takeover of hospitality industry in GB.

For confirmation, I ran this Bill through AI, and the analysis is exactly what one would expect: Centralisation of Authority and a serious danger of Military takeover of the industry.

In a province already under a war like situation, such a colonial kind of extraction is going to only deepen insurgency. But most importantly, it directly feeds into the militarisation project underway in Pakistan.

There are better ways to go down, than to go down in complete capitulation.
