@drvasimk 3. Hiking levy of any tax generally has two purposes, both are not justifiable in given circumstances:
a) To increase revenue of govt., which is by and large not acceptable.
b) To reduce the consumption. Why to allow it in first place?

@drvasimk Its a dubious move. Reasons:

1. There is a remarkable population who prefers alcohol over basic need of their family. These household might face harsdship & savings would deplicit.

2. People have lived wothout alcohol for more than 40 days and nothing worse has happened.
