@Naxela2 This trend has popped up in boy's YA series, too--notably this is almost exactly a Harry Potter/Percy Jackson story. The girls' version will inevitably involve generational trauma or something to differentiate itself 🙃
The story hasn't blown up because the suspect appears to be black from surveillance video & left wing accounts don't care about the victims of black crime. Also, the angle is black people escalating feelings of disrespect from normal requests, to murder, not "muh blue cities"
"Teach men not to rape" is a much cozier and gentler mantra than what is almost certainly the reality: that sexual psychopathy that sets in early is both rare and incurable. A male teenage rapist is not educable. He will never be a normal citizen.
"Rape culture" discourse argued that rape is taught and encouraged in our culture; ostensibly this argument was made to push for accountability. Instead, it had led to this: "boys who rape are simply ignorant and should be pitied. they were never taught it was bad"
@restoreorderusa@SocialNomadRach The University of Minnesota had to stop hosting high school graduations because somalis kept doing shootings during the ceremonies
“Traditions are experiments that worked.”
Louise Perry made a sharp point on Modern Wisdom: Progressives have a huge rhetorical advantage. They can always paint a shiny utopian future that’s never existed, so they never have to defend any real-world failures or trade-offs.
Conservatives, on the other hand, end up defending imperfect past cultures and traditions — and immediately get hit with “so you support domestic violence / imperialism / cholera?”
As Thomas Sowell said: there are no solutions, only trade-offs.
Acknowledging trade-offs is fundamentally conservative — and often deeply unpopular in a world addicted to promises of perfect progress.
I’ve always found this dynamic fascinating. It explains why one side feels perpetually on the defensive while the other gets to play visionary.
What do you think — is the “traditions are experiments that worked” framing a stronger way to defend conservative ideas, or do you see it differently?
@dystopiangf kink culture is a way for progressive/culturally sensitive young people to tap into primal sexual dynamics without being problematic. women want domination but need to dress it up in language and affects they can argue are liberating
@owenbroadcast My dad had a big beard and a head of long gray hair. When he traveled through China, Chinese tourists constantly flagged him down to take pictures with him. And in a thrift shop an old Asian woman asked if she could touch his hair. I think he enjoyed being treated as exotic
Master thread on the 2015-2022 closure of the Internet, the process by which every major Internet platform went from broadly open with a few basic guidelines to strict narrative enforcement, often with the collaboration of govts and outsourcing moderation power to NGOs.
Leftists decriminalize drugs, decriminalize living on public sidewalks, then sue everytime we try to clean it up or institutionalize these people.
This video encapsulates their society. This is what “no war on drugs” gets you, in reality.
Then they use it as anti-rightwing propaganda, claiming homelessness simply persists because right wingers won’t invest more in public funding.
Typical leftism, actually. Create a problem entirely by yourself, blame the right for what you did, then demand money from the right to fix your own problem.
🚨NEW🚨 - The two teens arrested in Florida for conspiring to murder a classmate who resembled Sandy Hook school shooter Adam Lanza in a "ritual" to bring the killer back to life were part of the online mass shooter fandom "TCC" and were allegedly active in the self harm community on X.
Police released a 30 minute long video of the girls giggling and chatting in the back of a cop car after being arrested at their high school. One of the two girls, who is transgender and identifies as male, was caught with a knife and other ritualistic items in their backpack after another student tipped off police to their plan.
The girls laughed and joked about their plan to murder the student in explicit detail on the recording. They also mentioned a plan to spread their story around TCC, discussed self harm groups and fandom drawings they made of the Columbine Killers, and at one point began a sexual role-play of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold in the back of the cop car.
The girls, age 14 and 15, are being held without bail and charged as adults.
The kids are absolutely not OK, y'all.
