Where: Gyirong Port (also called Jilong Port / 吉隆口岸) in Gyirong County (Jilong County), Shigatse (Rikaze) City, Tibet Autonomous Region (Xizang), China. This is the main land border crossing with Nepal. The mudslide/debris flow originated on the Nepalese side and crossed into the Chinese port area.1
What happened: A sudden large-scale mudslide (debris flow) from the Nepalese side slammed into the Gyirong Port area. It caused major casualties and missing persons on the Chinese side, buried buildings, and cut off roads, communications, and power supplies to the port. Search-and-rescue operations are underway; Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered all-out efforts to locate the missing, treat the injured, and prevent secondary disasters. Exact death/missing figures on the Chinese side have not been publicly released yet.18
The dramatic videos circulating (including the one you saw of the parking lot full of buses and vehicles being overwhelmed in seconds by a wall of mud, water, and debris) match official descriptions and drone/security camera footage of the event at the port. 1What is Stellar/XLM?
Stellar is a blockchain (a shared digital ledger) designed for fast and cheap money transfers especially good at international payments.
2What is the “trust graph”?
On the Stellar network, computers all over the world (called nodes) decide which other computers they trust to help confirm transactions.
The diagram that shows “who trusts whom” is called the trust graph.

On the right side you can clearly see a tight, dense cluster of many nodes all labeled “SL8”.
3Why is SL8 (Cassator) impressive?
◦Most organizations only run the minimum of about 3 validator computers.
