The Raptors were an NBA afterthought when Ujiri took over in 2013. 5yr playoff drought. 1 playoff series win in their existence. Every star they ever had forced their way out. Since: 8 playoff appearances, 9 series wins, 1 championship. He completely reshaped their culture/image.
I think it depends on how much they want to do with robotics and AI
Hear me out here (all theory based on what I know of a lot of this tech how it is now fwiw):
A lot of the robotics and future Apple Intelligence features are likely going to be vision based and around the home. A lot of this is likely going to need physical objects in the home with position awareness. As well as you can use vision and LiDAR for mapping a space, having physical anchors with positional awareness, UWB devices like HomePod Apple Watch AirTag iPhone etc, can be those anchors.
Now you’ll want it to be aware of positioning but not always pinging devices like an iPhone Apple Watch etc to process the 3D space in whatever models and for privacy I think people would be more comfortable with it not always using cameras as the main source, so taking a 3D map then offloading that to distributed compute on local devices could work out.
Imagine if you had a higher end HomePod with an M series chip and memory to help process the data for Apple intelligence, robotics, home security, etc without needing to offload this to a data center. The more hardware you have, the more it can do, the better it will be. Distributed ambient computing with an edge AI use case where your house is aware of everything, helping you with anything, and none of it ever leaves your local network and all data and processing happens in your home.
At that point could even start using your home as your own private cloud compute node where possible and keeping some of this data about your home specific to you where you might not want to ping a server for it. Even have iCloud store your photos at your own home and index for access with Apple intelligence.
I feel like as data centers become more AI training/inference focused, home hardware should get more powerful so you can keep your data to yourself and on your own hardware as a backup and for more private processing.
Ok that’s my vision for this stuff/rant.
If we're extending the subway all the way to Morningside, we should serve the major destinations along the way. Option 3 misses just about all of them, so i propose my own option 4, to U of T Scarborough, via Scarborough Centre. (8/15)

🇨🇦BANK OF CANADA IS IN A BIND🔒
Canada’s economy is weakening quickly. Businesses are going bankrupt, unemployment is rising, and GDP per capita is abysmal.
For 13 years BoC held rates at 2% (or less) so Canadians grew addicted to cheap debt and took on a lot of it. Now that we’re sitting at 5% rates it’s a shock to many people.
The debt accumulated by businesses, consumers, and the government is no longer feasible which is why many are calling for imminent rate cuts. Given the weakening economy I’m sure rate cuts are on the BoC’s mind but it’s not that simple.
If BoC cuts rates too soon we risk a second wave of inflation and a repeat of the 1970s.
Ontario’s Financial Accountability Officer has found that the Ford government failed to spend $7.2 billion of its budget last year, including $1.7 billion unspent on health as ERs are closing and surgery waitlists are growing https://t.co/cUGX1EZte9 #onpoli
