Owning a fully equipped hospital as a Nigerian who is not a doctor is not, in itself, a crime. We need to distinguish between owning a healthcare facility and practising medicine. A person can invest in healthcare, provide the infrastructure, employ qualified doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other professionals, and leave clinical responsibilities to appropriately licensed practitioners. What matters is whether the facility is properly registered, meets the applicable regulatory requirements, and employs qualified professionals. We should not confuse hospital ownership with medical practice. The issue is compliance with the law, not whether the owner personally holds a medical degree.
