I hear a lot of arguments about how this isn't their priority. Nah, I don't buy it.
AI labs love to brag about how claude writes a C compiler from scratch. Rewrites bun in rust. Chatgpt solves math.
And every single time, either the task is super verifiable with lots of human made tests, or there's controversy about leaked chats to openai.
If they could spin up an agent swarm to rewrite chatgpt desktop in rust and raylib (for example) we would be hearing for months about that. And I would be very happy! I love using fast software.
And look, you would be the first AI lab to do it! Perfect marketing, sells itself.
Why can't they spend at least 10min to kick off that swarm?
Either they have tried already and failed so miserably that we have heard nothing, or worse, they really believe electron can deliver the highest quality product.
You can't tell me a company that wrote how they stopped triggering 6900 react hooks on keypress has solved engineering. I don't believe you.
@bdlowery@zeeg only way anth currently enforces this is to only allow one active subcription per custom mail domain. tried this with multiple emails on same domain and always got a payment issue. same card worked with a gmail account
Amazing blogpost from the Data Team here at @Cloudflare on how we optimized our ClickHouse platform and gained 2.5 YEARS of hardware runway.
If you've tried to by hardware this year, you know that's a huge win!
And as always, we're hiring :)

Fine, I'll bite.
Paper will never, ever, eat Figma's lunch.
Not Paper, not Claude Design, not Google Stitch, not V0, bolt, lovable, base44 or any of the HTML/CSS-based canvas.
Why? The number one reason:
Performance.
Paper struggles at 2-5K elements of plain rectangles
For comparison, in the attached video: a small, early-stage exploration canvas with 13K elements.
Real-world projects are tens of thousands sometimes hundreds of thousands of elements.
Why do you think Figma has a hyper-optimized webGL rendering engine? It would've been way easier to have an HTML/CSS-based canvas if that was feasible.
Figma's money comes from tens of thousands of organizations where *at the very minimum* need to support these canvas sizes.
Does it hurt Figma that many individuals and small teams are switching to other tools? arguable.
Does Paper have better *MCP support* than Figma*? 1000 percent. Not even close.
but MCP support != better overall or even an option for most.
I'm not saying Figma's lunch won't be eaten.
I have a huge horse in that game, betting it will be.
I'm saying *HTML/CSS-based canvases, specifically* won't.
there's no such thing as a rogue agent man its software someone made and deployed they are responsible for what it does
cannot let this blame shifting occur
