TRTW Ch - This is such a great strategy! It gives students a tool to use when they really don't know what to say. Instead of saying "I don't know", pretend that you are sitting with an expert about this topic. What would you ask him or her? #GCSLTELs
TRTW Ch 2 - I love using the QSSSA strategy to get students talking with academic language. The stems offer them so much confidence that they can say something that will be understood by their listeners. #GCSLTELs
@JaimeKapadia@TanyaFrancaESOL@LaurenJESOL @JenineSilen I started doing that last month, as well! I have found it to be very helpful in pinpointing specific skills that these students can improve. I am hopeful for good results in February.
#GCSLTELs Ch.9 - "SIPs have a clear purpose: to improve student achievement by increasing the knowledge and skills of educators." Must we assume that teachers LACK knowledge and skill in order to improve?
#GCSLTELs Ch3 - I love the skeleton plan for sequencing a lesson: vocabulary, reading strategies for comprehension, writing about reading, oral communication about content and assessment. A successful format for any class, any student, any subject.

I agree that Quality Teaching is the most important factor in determining the success of ELs or any students. I am not convinced that PD is the most productive way to achieve this. How about more time to collaborate between EL and classroom teachers?
