The Last Emperor: This cue seems so free flowing and soothing. The instrumentation and style definitely sets a scene of a cultural context for the movie. #bkfilm
Passage to India: Feels weird to me having a western orchestration express a cue depicted in India but overall it does the job of creating a tensive atmosphere. #bkfilm
Gandhi: A pretty predictable instrumentation choice for this cue. I think the violin does more justice in expressing this scene than anything else. #bkfilm
Tron (Wendy Carlos): Wendy Carlos has been a pioneering power house for electronic and computer music. One of the first scores to implement electronic music as more of a compositional tool rather than just fx. #bkfilm
Legend: I think Tangerine Dream did a great job capturing the essence of a world of fantasy with some great sounding synths. I prefer it over Goldsmith's version cause i feel that an electronic score can have more of an impact on a scene in certain situations. #bkfilm
Dvorak, Symphony No. 9, Mvt 4: A powerful introduction to a movement. It accentuates a strong and epic atmosphere for the most part of the piece. #bkfilm
Imperial March: This is probably my favorite cue in Star Wars, perfectly emulates Darth Vader and the darkness inside that we are initially introduced to. #bkfilm
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (Williams - 1977): The starting call and response is really weird. I don't really know what to say about this. #bkfilm
Jaws (Williams - 1975): Creates a powerful sense of adventure filled with suspense and tension. The hastiness towards the end really raises the tension. #bkfilm
Basic Instinct (Goldsmith - 1992): The call and response between the strings and woodwinds set up a great atmosphere for this cue. Also a really great contrast from his synth madness. #bkfilm
Runaway (Goldsmith - 1984): Another cluster fuck....of synths. I actually enjoy the madness in this one. Electronic scores are always more interesting to me. #bkfilm
Chinatown (Goldsmith - 1974): The horn melody plays a pretty strong role in setting the mood for this cue. A very jazz meets orchestral style score. #bkfilm
Patton (Goldsmith - 1970): The echoplex is definitely the highlight of this cue. Another great use of long delay tails. The rest is pretty straightforward with its military theme. #bkfilm
Planet Of The Apes (Goldsmith - 1968): The percussion combined with long delay and reverb tails do a great job of creating suspenseful atmosphere. Definitely a very unique score for its time. #bkfilm
