North Oconee - 64
What a game in a rematch of last year’s state championship between Holy Innocents and North Oconee High School. The first half belonged to North Oconee, but HIES completely took over in the second half to secure the road win.
The duo of Jaden McCullough and Devin Hutcherson was special tonight, combining for 52 points in the win.
Jaden McCullough came out scorching hot in the third quarter, knocking down three walk-down threes in a row and staying in a flow state from that point on. When he gets going, he’s one of the most gifted scorers in the state with his shiftiness and shot-making ability. He finished with 27 points in the win.
Devin Hutcherson put up 25 much-needed points for HIES. The constant pressure he put on the rim was too much for North Oconee to handle—there wasn’t a player on the floor who could stay in front of him. He was a one-man fast break all night and likely posted a double-double with rebounds. We also can’t overlook his defensive performance, as he had a big-time assignment.
Sean Smith was the X-factor in HIES’s win. His defensive pressure caused havoc in the second half and made every possession difficult for North Oconee, preventing them from getting into their offense.
Banks Pourchier had a solid showing despite the loss with a 19-point performance. He was a force in the paint and showed nice touch around the basket. Justin Wise also added 19 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Highly entertaining 2nd half that showed some big time shot making from the Lions that gave them the lead late in the 4th quarter. A big 2nd half from Devin Hutcherson, featuring a coast to coast game-winner, spoiled the Lions’ night.
