#21 — Capital Markets Weekly Review

The European Commission opened a formal review of MiCA this week, running a public consultation through August on stablecoin rules and DeFi oversight gaps. Meanwhile, the UK's FCA and Bank of England published a joint tokenization framework for wholesale markets, proposing near-24/7 settlement infrastructure to support distributed ledger adoption.

Elsewhere: European banks expanded euro stablecoin infrastructure, Standard Chartered announced 7,800 job cuts through AI automation, and industry analysts flagged governance risks in rapid AI deployment.

Has anyone noticed that claude code seems to be bad at estimations. It seems to use the time a developer would have spent implementing the feature without LLM support. Why is it doing that? Humans are not good at estimation, and since it has been trained on that, it might have learned from us to be bad at something. #claude @karpathy

The MiCA transitional period ends 1st of July 2026. This week, B2C2 and Paybis secured authorizations in Luxembourg and Latvia as the first combined crypto-asset and payment institution license under the EU framework. Meanwhile, Société Générale deployed stablecoins on Canton for repo financing, and Broadridge expanded tokenized securities infrastructure across Wall Street's post-trade operations.

The week also brought fixed income pricing infrastructure shifts, regulatory calls for on-chain trading clarity, and persistent questions about AI ROI in financial services. Multiple threads, one direction.

Ich würde es noch zugespitzter ausdrücken: Die SPD und CDU sind die Architekten für den Aufstieg der radikalen Ränder, indem sie jeden Tag aufs Neue beweisen, dass die Probleme der Wähler einfach nicht ernst genommen werden und Fraktionen und Glaubenssätze wichtiger sind. Wenn das so weitergeht und das Volk und die Industrie weiter ignoriert werden, dann werden CDU und SPD (und Grüne) auf einmal auf der anderen Seite der Brandmauer stehen, denn die Probleme, die es gibt, kennen keine Brandmauern, sondern gehören gelöst. Vermutlich ist das nur in einer Minderheitsregierung von CDU aktuell machbar. Dass diese funktionieren wird, im In- und Ausland ja bewiesen. @christianmiele

Wieso "bestraft" man seine besten Spieler? Dann fallen noch weniger Tore. Eine ganze Mannschaft profitiert davon, die besten Spieler bei Laune zu halten. Der Staat soll endlich bei sich anfangen. Der Staat mit seiner ausufernden Bürokratie ist das Problem. Unternehmen und auch private Haushalte kennen Kostendisziplin und Effizienzmaßnamen, nur die Politik nicht. Man soll sich doch mal die Schweiz als mit seiner viel geringeren Staatsquote als Vorbild nehmen und auf ein ähnliches Niveau kommen.

@ronzheimer "Will Frau Bas in Wahrheit gar nicht mehr regieren?", finde ich einen interessanten Gedanken. Vermutlich ist das Problem, dass Regieren bedeutet mit der normativen Kraft des Faktischen konfrontiert zu werden und das mit der eigenen Scheinwelt nicht kompatibel ist.

Die könnten relativ schnell verschwinden. Nicht die Einnahmen sind das Problem. Die Steuer- und Abgabenquote in Deutschland gehört zu den höchsten der OECD. Das einzige was in Deutschland noch wächst seit 2019 ist der Staat und die Ausgaben. Die Kosten sind viel zu hoch und ihr würgt die Einnahmeseite ab. Es ist eigentlich relativ einfach. Anstatt hinzugehen und eine Radikalkur zu machen und mit gutem Beispiel voranzugehen und gesunden Menschenverstand, sorgt ihr dafür, dass die ihr die Ränder stärkt. Ihr selber habt es in der Hand.
