More refugees are running for their lives throughout the night. Call your congressman now! Call your senator now! Thailand has to respect President Trump's ceasefire agreement.
It has now been more than 50 days since 18 Cambodian soldiers were taken into custody by Thai forces, long after the guns were supposed to have fallen silent. On July 28, Cambodia and Thailand signed a ceasefire agreement intended to bring an end to the latest round of border clashes. Yet these men remain in detention, a stark reminder that peace is fragile when the principles of international law are ignored.

In truth, I do not wish to make any statements regarding the Cambodia-Thailand conflict, which is currently being addressed under a ceasefire agreement intended to prevent the loss of life among military personnel and civilians, and to ensure that both public and private property, as well as infrastructure, are not destroyed in the event of renewed warfare.
However, what I do wish to speak about is the reopening of the Cambodia-Thailand border checkpoint. In recent times, there has been considerable public discussion, mostly from Cambodian social media users. Meanwhile, political figures, military leaders, and civil administrators have remained silent on the matter.
Looking at Thailand, we see voices from all levels of society, from top to bottom, speaking out repeatedly about maintaining the closure. Since the Thai military unilaterally shut the border, Cambodia has never requested its reopening. We simply informed the Thai side that, (as Thailand closed it, they should be the ones to reopen it. There is no need for negotiation with Cambodia, and once Thailand reopens its side, Cambodia will follow five hours later.)
This is Cambodia's firm position and it will not change. Cambodia will not lower itself to beg Thailand to reopen the border. Even if Thailand decides to keep it closed for another 100 years, Cambodia will not perish.
I should express gratitude to Thailand. Their unilateral border closure has prevented the import of Thai goods, which in turn has led to significant growth in Cambodian domestic products. Cambodian citizens who love their country have come together to support and consume locally made goods, which will contribute to long-term economic development.
For over three months without Thai imports, Cambodiaβs markets have remained stable, with an adequate supply of goods and low inflation. In macroeconomic terms, economic management has been effective.
Regarding Japanβs request as it has investments in both Thailand and Cambodia to transport goods across the Cambodia-Thailand border, Japan should contact the Thai side, as Cambodia has already granted its approval.
I respectfully urge my fellow citizens to remain patient and allow the Royal Government to continue resolving this matter through peaceful means. We cannot end war with war.

Clashes Leave 28 Injured at Cambodian-Thai Border
BANTEAY MEANCHEY β Clashes broke out on September 17 between Thai forces and Cambodians at Chouk Chey village, with Thai troops firing rubber bullets and tear gas that left around 28 people injured.
In response, Cambodiaβs Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the Thai armed forces to cease hostile actions, exercise restraint, and respect Cambodiaβs sovereignty and the safety of civilians.
The ministry also called on the international community to help prevent further escalation.
The Thais are on the front foot β whatever the merit of their claims to the land, the efforts to evict of the villagers at Prey Chan, witnessed by The Times on Wednesday, appear to be a clear violation of the
