I wonder if the same sort of thing is true for people. Obviously, putting yourself in a different context can change your thought patterns, but maybe something as simple as thinking about yourself in the third person can break you out of the way you usually think.

There's this concept in prompting language models where if you prompt it in unusual ways, the model "breaks out" of the usual patterns it follows in its responses

It sounds silly, but since models are so dependent on context for their answers and there are so many samples of people prompting it the normal way (second-person, conversational), this has a big impact on the sort of pathways it gets led down.
