@reina_sabah @QueenBooksTO Given that I absolutely LOVED two of those books it stands to reason I should pick up the third just to see if it's my jam too!
A note in the work slack this morning saying that the heat in our office is broken, which is why we have been freezing for two days already. Nice to know we're not imagining it but still beyond infuriating.
@Superlativeh @NoemiPOM You're human! I'm human! We're all human. It's okay to not be able to handle stuff sometimes. Realistically a good relationship can handle being told no, I think, but it's still hard to say it.
I am mesmerized by all the friendship/emotional labour takes and I cannot stop thinking about it.
I think... All of them are right? Which just goes to suggest that it's the kind of thing that has to be negotiated in each relationship.
@THEBENWA@Superlativeh Yeah that's the start of it. A lot of people have takes, varying from "who doesn't do this" to "people who ask for this don't have any real friends"
@Superlativeh @NoemiPOM I guess what I don't like is the quantification, really. As both of you say, energy is finite. Having to choose makes it harder but also it's inevitable that sometimes we're all going to run out, no matter how much we do care or what else is or isn't happening.
@Superlativeh @NoemiPOM That's literally always true, though, people always get to decide if a relationship is "worth it". The point of most relationships is building enough shared sentiment that one becomes invested enough in another that they're "worth" a lot, or at least a lot more than any rando.
@samandfuzzy @NoemiPOM That's a solid point! Not that long ago sometimes you just couldn't get a hold of people. Now I sometimes push myself to practice not answering messages in seconds, because as a habit I don't think it's actually good for me.
