I haven't posted anything like this in a while..

Ragnarok IP (@RagmonNFT) coming into @Ronin_Network is more symbolic than you think.

I grew up playing Ragnarok Online it's part of who I am, and I mean that literally with no exaggerations.

Just by saying the word "Ragnarok", It triggers a part of my brain to hear the iconic background music of Prontera.

I am very excited that Ragnarok is coming to web3 and will be on Ronin!

Writing this piece is super difficult, because of the memories that are gushing through my mind right now...

I don't know which story to tell!

Is it about my first-ever character, a level 40 swordsman with INT and LUK (Hybrid)

My second character, a level 32 merchant that I never bothered leveling up anymore as I focused on collecting all the hats in RO, all I did was buy and sell things.

Or my level 99 Priests (main) that sometimes warp people to Izlude instead of GH /gg

I also met friends from this game that I am still friends with to this day.

Although, Ragmon won't be the MMORPG game that we enjoyed in the past.

I am still excited to play the game
It's a different take and a new experience.

What I am curious about is the Genesis Tamers,
it says on their whitepaper that a tamer will start as a novice and evolve into different Job Classes.

Aside from nostalgia, there's a parallelism between Ragnarok and Axie Infinity here are some:

1. Pay Gated by Design

When RO was first introduced to the Philippines, it was Pay-to-Play, Players had to buy cards and top up to access their accounts.

While Axie Infinity requires 3 Axies to start playing, this issue was circumvented by the "Scholarship Program",

Players who couldn't afford to buy a set of Axies play by entering a "Scholarship Program" or a profit-sharing scheme between scholars and managers.

2. Hacked

Not many people know this but Gravity KR fell victim to a hack, believed to be perpetrated by a group of Private Servers advocates who dislikes the Pay-2-Play model of Ragnarok.

This incident set back the development of Ragnarok Online for years. They thought Ragnarok wouldn't even make it out of the gate.

Lazarus Group hacked Axie Infinity to the tune of 625 million dollars.

3. Became No. 1

Despite all the troubles and competition Ragnarok and Axie Infinity have stood the test of time and were massively supported by gamers.

Ragnarok to this day is one of the most recognizable IPs when it comes to online gaming, the same goes for Axie.

Who wouldn't recognize a Poring and an Axie when they see one?

Ragnarok X Ronin is symbolic.
They were both leaders of their time.
They were both number 1

I can't think of a better IP coming into Ronin.
