Children are not profit centers.

Hospitals are now vaccinating kids for the flu while they’re under anesthesia for unrelated procedures. The program has a name—“Close Your Eyes. We’ll Immunize.” They’ve already given thousands of doses at places like CHOP, generated tens of thousands in revenue, and they want to expand it to other vaccines.

A sedated child cannot consent. A parent in the pre-op bay, focused on their child’s surgery, is not in a position for calm, unpressured decision-making. Any fever, rash, or reaction afterward is now mixed in with anesthesia, antibiotics, and pain medication.

This is not medicine. It is the same pattern we saw before: protocol over patient, revenue over real informed consent, and opportunism dressed up as “care.”

True informed consent requires time, clarity, and the ability to say no without pressure. This practice provides none of those.

Children’s hospitals are vaccinating kids for the flu while they are under anesthesia for unrelated procedures.

At CHOP alone, thousands of doses have been given through a program called “Close Your Eyes. We’ll Immunize.” Other hospitals have launched similar programs.

That means a child can wake up from surgery having also received a vaccine, with any fever, rash, allergic reaction, or other complication now competing with anesthesia, antibiotics, and pain medication as a possible cause.

CHOP says it wants to expand the program to children sedated for any reason and potentially include other routine vaccines. One presentation also reported more than $60,000 in revenue from the flu-shot program.

Parents consent, but this is a practice that deserves a much closer look.

When you sign all those hospital forms, you’re often giving consent to things you’d never knowingly agree to.

Read the forms. Ask what else can be done while you’re under. Because once you sign, a lot of decisions are already made for you.

According to a February 2025 Taylorsville Journal report about the restoration of the Al-Rasool Islamic Center, a former LDS meetinghouse now used as a mosque:

How much did the LDS Church contribute? Which funds were used? And has the Church helped finance other mosque projects in Utah?
