🦔Spotted a hedgehog lately? Hedgehogs hibernate during the winter & emerge in the warmer spring weather. 🌞 We can help them by building a hedgehog shelter or making a hole in the garden fence to help them get around. #HedgehogAwarenessWeek 🦔https://t.co/CGJPPRYI7k.
“What I like best in the whole world is Me and Piglet going to see You, and You saying, “What about a little something?” And Me saying, ‘Well, I shouldn’t mind a little something, should you, Piglet,’ and it being a hummy sort of day outside, and birds singing.” #SaturdayMorning
We didn’t always know that ammonites are the fossilised remains of extinct cephalopods.
In Whitby, legend has it that they are snakes which were turned to stone by St. Hilda. Local curiosity dealers used to carve out snake heads to encourage the idea!🐍

They try to pretend that nobody cares
Whether you walk on the lines or squares.
But only the sillies believe their talk;
It’s ever so portant how you walk.
And it’s ever so jolly to call out, “Bears,
Just watch me walking in all the squares!”

One of the biggest floral spectacles in Cambridge has just come into blossom for the first time at St John’s College. Lining both sides of Limes Avenue are expanses of Narcissus Jet Fire and February Gold Daffodils intermixed with Chionodoxa Blue Giant flowers.
This new installation is the brainchild of Head Gardener David Austrin who with his team and volunteers from the college and the wider horticultural community of Cambridge, planted over 57,000 bulbs.
It took the whole month of November last year to plant the bulbs by hand - no machinery could be used due to the risk of damaging the roots of the lime trees that line the pathway. David tells me that there is a second surprise timed later in the spring and of course being perennials we can expect this gorgeous display for many years to come.
So if you missed the Thriplow Festival, take a walk along Queen’s Road where you can view the avenue of daffodils.
