Bochra Manaï is Montreal's Commissioner for the Fight Against Racism. For over a month she has said nothing about the antisemitism seen on Montreal's streets or the bullets and broken glass at Jewish institutions and Jewish-owned businesses.

On Friday, she finally made a generic statement on "Islamophobic and anti-Semitic acts," while adding that dealing with the public is not really her job.

So what has she been up to the last month?

Well, on Facebook and Instagram, she's been likening the war in Gaza to the Rwandan genocide, and interacting with and posting content to make Jewish Montrealers feel as uncomfortable as possible. She has been on hand for marches where antisemitic chants and signage have been on display - without a single comment condemning it.

How can this person stay on as Montreal's Commissioner for the Fight Against Racism, and keep her six-figure salary, with this track record?

When she was named, Mayor Plante said “I am confident she will be able to mobilize all municipal teams to accelerate organizational transformation, towards a city that is more just, inclusive and representative of its diversity.” These past five weeks have proven she's not up to this task, and the Montreal she is “proud of” does not represent this city at all.

She must resign, or be fired.
