If you’re following, my bad that it’s out of order. I’m hella tight at this. Obviously @SallyBeauty has not read the IP from @Sephora which states that once profiled BIPOC consumers do not return to the location OR RETAILER. Last coins I’ll ever spend there 👋🏾👋🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
Just got racially profiled in @SallyBeauty in East Haven. A thread.
So, went in to Sally’s to grab a pair of clippers to cut my husbands hair because, I’m professional. While I’m waiting for a few other Black women to finish browsing, one of the associates asks if I need help.
This is the same @SallyBeauty where I went for wig glue and another associate tried to sell me hair bonding glue WHICH CLEARLY STATES IT IS NOT FOR USE ON SKIN. This whole thing is mind boggling and frustrating in 2021, where you get profiled for BUYING
Out of NOWHERE, the manager swoops down and takes the clippers out of my hands. She asks if I “mind”, but is clearly taking them from me. She proceeds to tell me she can’t let me walk around with them. Those...and the hair extensions. WTF???
I decide on the Wahl’s. Sorry to that man I tagged before. I pick them up and go to browse the other merchandise. Still talking to my sister on the phone. We are laughing. The clippers are in my hand.
We are discussing - audibly - the cost of the clippers and which are the best to buy. @AndisCompany or @wahl. I pick up the clippers to assess and read specs to my sis. The first associate hovers as I touch the clippers.
When I say “no”, the associate finishes my statement to “oh you’re with them”. That’s flag #1. I then go to find the actual clippers which are behind the register. I call my sister -who actually does this for a living.

.@KelloggsUS would love to have a discussion about representation in your design. Important that refs are portrayed as more than blue-eyed white males. Not sure about your other stores, this is in my local grocer
