I’m amazed at people who are addicted to consuming content that triggers them.
Can never be me. If the algorithm starts to move weird, I immediately start pushing the “not interested” and “show less content like this” buttons.
A CEO temporarily halts admissions to an overcrowded, overburdened Emergency ward. Redirects patients to nearby health centers and even sends his specialists to help cater for the patients in those hospitals. Then a health minister suspends such a CEO, what for? What’s his crime
The A&e was NOT shut down. To shut down means the place was closed and HCWs not attending to patients.
That did not happen.
There was a TEMPORARY HALT in the admission of new cases due to congestion and overcrowding. At that point, the best course of action was taken to allow the redistribution of patients to other facilities and decongest the A&E.
Later, admissions were restored
@AhenkanEnoch People perish from overcrowding, not screening. KATH’s unit is built for 37 but had 61 patients and 34 waiting. Pausing admissions for 24 hours to divert non-critical cases to peripheral hospitals is standard safety protocol to clear backlogs and save lives, not 'shutting down'.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo has won the Best Regional Minister Award at the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Awards.

The contrast is striking.
On one side, flooded streets, stranded commuters and residents counting their losses after the rains.
On the other, an awards night celebrating excellence in public service.
Who determines the winners? What benchmarks are used? And how is performance measured?
I’m genuinely curious.
This is equivalent to the e-levy cake situation in my books. So out of touch with reality.
The country is flooding and you’re awarding yourselves for, *checks notes* doing your job???
Will amy of the politicians agree to be nursed in a chair or on the floor if they were ill? Why then should that be the fate of the ordinary Ghanaian? We need to demand better for ourselves
They are fighting so that the ordinary Ghanaian wouldn’t end up in a crowded emergency and pick up a virulent infection that could have otherwise been avoided. They are fighting so that you get the best of care that your money and NHIS can afford.
Maybe you have the means to afford private healthcare; but the HCWs are fighting so that no one would end up being nursed on floors with stains of blood, urine etc
Because he is a Consultant orthopedic surgeon, he can defy the president’s directive, and when he is suspended you say the minister doesn’t respect him.. make it make sense, noble profession enti the doctor is a demigod ?
Even poultry farmers don't overcrowd a chicken coop but they expect us to overcrowd the hospital with sick humans.
Be there and don't think deeply about the ministers actions
in all this, it’s just funny for me that the doctors are the ones championing and fighting for patient safety and trying to hold the government accountable yet some of the very people they are fighting for are fighting against them😭
I never knew there was money in this broadcasting thing until a friend told me the pundits at Wontumi Sports earn Ghc100k each per month and I was like really???!!!😳😳😳
A directive that no patient be turned away, noble as it is, can't be effected in a vacuum without proper and adequate health infrastructure and personnel.
There comes a point, beyond which, the apparent risks far outweigh the benefits in a health facility.
Overcrowding increase the rate of spread of infections and in a relatively under resourced facility, the burnout could lead to avoidable errors by health professionals.
The directive should be fairly matched with the realities at the facility otherwise healthcare delivery would suffer.
bro recently my facility dey do some EM training wey i go KATH themma A&E go pick dummies, some things i see?
people dey receive treatment for floor, terrible scenes.
that one sef them no close A&E, so obvs if them close am now, edey mean say it over them ankasa ankasa.
WATCH: 500-bed Afari Military Hospital remains overgrown with weeds, as KATH ,the only referral facility in the Ashanti Region, struggles with congestion at its Accident and Emergency Unit.
Installed medical equipment at the Afari facility is also gathering dust as the project, which has missed several completion deadlines, remains abandoned and neglected. Major parts of the hospital are deteriorating, with ceilings and paint peeling off.
