Today I am issuing an Executive Order protecting women who seek reproductive health care in Hawaiʻi, and medical professionals who provide it.
We will not cooperate with any other state that tries to prosecute women who receive abortions in Hawaiʻi.
This week Hawai‘i is receiving its final shipment of coal. This is a huge step forward in Hawaiʻi’s transition to clean energy. In its time, coal was an important resource for Hawaii and I’d like to thank the workers who have run our last remaining coal plant.
Today at 11:59pm the Governor’s emergency proclamation related to Covid 19 comes to an end. With it the Safe Travels Hawai’i program ends as well. 12 Million people participated in this program designed to keep Hawai’i safe and reduce the strain on our healthcare system.
I’ve come to realize recently that the struggle of indigenous people against colonialism/imperialism/settlers is something that is extremely universal. I can’t help but draw connections between the Kanaka Maoli and Palestinians.
