When Da Drought 3 dropped in 2007, it changed how rappers looked at mixtapes forever.

Wayne wasn’t just dropping songs, he was taking everyone’s beats and bodying them. Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Mike Jones, Juelz Santana… if it was hot on the radio, Wayne was rapping over it.

The craziest part? Those verses weren’t written.

Wayne was going in the booth and freestyling entire songs in one take, sometimes knocking out 10+ freestyles in a single night.

Rappers actually started holding onto beats longer because they knew if Wayne heard it first… it might turn into HIS record.

To this day, a lot of people still consider Da Drought 3 the greatest mixtape ever released.
