UK Campaign: Stop breeding of dangerous dogs for profit. Dogs whose bite can kill should wear a muzzle by law. Greater punishment for dogs that kill other dogs.
Yes a lot of dogs can kill if the bite is in a certain area such as the neck. However certain breeds are prone to relentless biting and mauling until the person or smaller dog is dead. That is the difference and why certain breeds should be banned.
🚨Briga em parque de Curitiba🚨
Um cão de grande porte teria atacado um cachorro menor, causando confusão entre pais de pet no Parque Bacacheri. O dono do animal foi agredido por várias pessoas
Innocent small dog gets mauled by bull breed dogs. It is totally inconsiderate and irresponsible to own 2 powerful dogs. Even if you think u can control them. Animals are unpredictable . A yearly fee on certain breeds would weed out a lot of inconsiderate people.
It is a mistake to focus on just XL bullys. Certain breeds like Cane Corso (a mastiff) are also unsuitable for society and should be discouraged. A £500 yearly tax/premium is a good way to discourage people and push them to pick a safer dog. @lawrencenewport
🚨NEW: 11-year-old boy was mauled to death by two Cane Corso dogs after his father allegedly ignored warnings not to let him stay in an apartment with the animals, which had previously mauled a woman and killed other pets
Kache Grist, 11, was visiting his father in Edmonton, Canada, during spring break in April 2024 when he was attacked inside the home by two Cane Corso dogs
The dogs, named Khaos and Kairo, had previously attacked a woman and killed other pets in the home
The boy was staying at the house where his father lived with the dogs’ owner, Crystal MacDonald
MacDonald said she had warned the father not to let the child stay alone around the animals, but the boy was still left in the home
The father later found his son on the kitchen floor with the two dogs nearby
An autopsy found the child died from a fatal bite wound to the neck, and the dogs were later euthanized
MacDonald has been charged with criminal negligence causing death. She denies the charge and blames Wesley for ignoring her warnings
🚨 BRENTWOOD ESSEX DOG ATTACKED - DOG KILLED
Can anyone help with information about the dog owner below?
Another owner was walking their dogs over fields off Hanging Hill Lane, when the above dog attacked and killed another.
If you have any information then please contact Essex Police, incident number EP-20260512-0963
Not the most frequent breeds of dog that does this but in this case it was a pack of dogs. Rarer type of case. If ur dog kills or seriously injures another dog u should have to pay the vets bill.
The "Pitbull" isn't even an AKC breed, dummy, it's just a term that means a large or medium muscular, short-haired dog with a blocky head that was originally bred from a bull and terrier cross for pit fighting. Also, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and American Bull Terriers were not separate breeds until the 1970s.
Look, dog breeds are an inexact science. Outside of "ancient" breeds that developed in fairly closed breeding pools and were geographically isolated (e.g., Akitas, Salukis, Basenji), most dog breeds didn't solidify until the 19th Century. All were eventually specifically bred for certain temperaments and physical traits, whereas people, prior to that, generally bred dogs solely for their usefulness, not adherence to an established breed standard.
But unlike breeds like Dalmatians or Pomeranians, the larger bully breeds are a decidedly modern invention, and all derive from pit fighting. They are specifically bred for "gameness," which is their unflagging ability and willingness to persist in a task despite extreme pain, exhaustion, or physical injury.
Basically, they're bred for blood sports, and recently at that. So who cares what you call them? They're all bred to kill stuff and kill it without any regard to their own pain. That means that it totally makes sense to count all attacks from this type of dog in a group, regarding of arbitrary AKC definitions, because they've all been bred to behave in this aggressive and dangerous way, just like Heelers are bred to herd cattle.
The UK has an irresponsible laissez faire attitude to dog behaviour. Maybe because the media loves and makes money from chaos and dysfunction like dog bite stories so would create a needless debate by calling on owners of these breeds to use emotion to stop bans.
@katee_K1 @TedHectorMess I am a libertarian . But what about the freedom of people to not get attacked and the anxiety that comes from the thoughts of their pets being attacked by dangerous dogs. That is why paradoxically there is a libertarian case for a ban
@58mbr It is misguided to concentrate on one breed. Other breeds should also be banned - eg Rottweilers . And for others you should have to pay a yearly fee of say £500 to own one. There should also be a ban on breeding these breeds for profit.
Hey @angelaeagle@EmmaforWycombe @SueHayman1 @DefraGovUK
What do you think of this idea? Certain breeds should be banned (Rottweiler cane corso etc) or pay a fee each year to own certain powerful breeds. Show leadership and be proactive rather than reactionary.
You should have to pay a yearly fee if you want to own a powerful dog eg. staffie, Rottweiler, mastiff cane corso. Say £500. This would go some way to prevent irresponsible people from choosing dangerous dogs.Woman’s little dog was torn to shreds by a staffie. Nothing will happen
@Halalcoholism@kingrabb_ Funny you mention chihuahua. This lady’s (I believe chihuahua) was recently torn to pieces by a staffordshire bull terrier (staffie) in UK.

If u choose a Cane Corso or other dangerous dog like Rottweiler for a dog you should have to pay an annual fee of say £500. That would discourage people from choosing them - especially irresponsible inconsiderate types that tend to pick these dogs.
