@TerryDodsonArt @HamillHimself @strathmoreart @winsorandnewton @Marvel@starwars@HeatherAntos@cracksh0t I'm still old school pencil and ink on paper. There's something drawing on paper that feels better than digitally (I work on the computer all day at work).
@TheDMLair I either have the AFK PC in the back, guarding "something, or if they are needed in combat then they will do the most basic attack with no extra modifiers. They will NEVER contribute to puzzles or any other decisions because otherwise they'll be a DMPC (and I loathe those!).
I’m so sorry for everyone at id Software affected by these layoffs.
I know what it feels like to leave id while id goes on. It’s a strange and painful thing to step away from a place that holds so much of your work, friendships and history.
The people at id have done a great job moving that legacy forward. DOOM, Quake, and Wolfenstein are not easy names to carry on, especially in today’s industry. The last few games showed real care, skill and respect for what those worlds mean to people.
A note on digital preservation: id's history is critically important to the history of games. I’ve preserved id’s complete early history from our start at Softdisk through to August 6, 1996, including materials and assets that, as far as I know, id itself no longer has. I hope someone is doing the same for the company’s ongoing legacy (the work, code, assets, stories and the people behind them).
I’m thinking of everyone at id today, and everyone else affected by yesterday’s layoffs. Romero Games was there a year ago. I know how devastating it is, and my heart's with all of you.
@RazorwireRPG No One Lives Forever. It's currently in legal limbo since neither Fox Interactive (the original publisher), WB Games (the parent of Monolith, the developer), or Activision Blizzard (purchased Vivendi Universal Games, which bought Fox Interactive) claim ownership of the IP.
@EsperTheBard My issue with 5E is with the initial design philosophy around the "adventuring day" of 6-8 encounters to eat away at the PCs' resources (hp, spell slots, potions, etc). This is noticeable with wilderness travel with the occasional combat encounter and the PCs goes nova on it.
@TheDMLair I don't have enemies fight to the death, especially low-ranking minions — they will flee or surrender because we die for your boss (the BBEG) who is now dead?
Tracey,
You know I’m a serving police officer.
My heart is heavy over everything that has transpired over the past few weeks.
I’m owed no respect, trust or compassion by anyone. I choose to wear the badge and can chose to hand it in at anytime.
But I also find it rather suspect at best as to the actual compassion for the police by the anti-gun crowd.
When Cst. Bali was run down with a car. Crickets.
When Cst. Pinizzotto was felled with an illegal handgun. Nothing.
When my friend Cst. Bona was shot at with a person with multiple firearms prohibitions. Silence.
When two RCMP officers were shot by a person in possession of an illegal firearm. No tweets.
Yet when a clearly deranged individual shot and killed Cst. Benredouane, and it fit their agenda, well now, conveniently they have something to say.
Each and every one these officers that lost their lives had value. Yet only when one was killed with the tools they wish to see banned, do they feel the need to say something.
So investigate the shooter. If there was a failure of the licencing system, address it. Look at his family, his mental health, social groups, all of it. We owe that to every officer, and every Canadian. But as these past few weeks has shown, if you only focus on the TOOL used in these evil acts, the PERSON using the tool, will just find a a new tool. And we’ll be here again, whenever the next incident happens, saying the same things.
And with that said, I don’t appreciate being used as a tool for anyone’s agenda, and I don’t want to see a dead officer used as one either. Cst. Benredouane’s life was so much more than that.
@GailSmithlegal@UberJumper Lots of people drink alcohol and lots of people drive cars (I don't do either though). However, we don't condemn them with broad strokes whenever there's deaths committed by a drunk driver but we blame that particular individual.
@UberJumper Legal firearm owners have had our firearms securely locked away for over six years now and there hasn't been monstrous acts committed by us during that time but yet we're still the problem...
