Someone said that the Latin categories at the Grammys have a requirement that they must have 51% Spanish.
Which means that Brazilian artists (also Latin) who sing mainly in Portuguese do not qualify.
kpop stans: “bts’ decision places other kpop groups in a bad position.”
no it doesn’t. holding truth to power and speaking out against the segregation of the asian community only benefits the asian community. bts isn’t responsible for the choices of others. if your faves have a problem with the category they are free to speak out in support of bts’ decision otherwise if they want to submit and win the category nothing is stopping them. they are free to do whatever they want and accept whatever consequences that follow. that’s on them not bts.

The people that have been foaming at the mouth about bts’ decision are just mad that bts can do this with no repercussions. The Grammys are meant to be a big deal. BTS discarding it like it’s the most inconsequential thing is what rattles them.
and while were at it! fuck you @billboardcharts ! dont you for a second think we've forgot how many 'rules' youve added over the years because youre scared of the success and power these seven boys have
The silence of the kpop industry is loud and noted.
BTS have always fought against discrimination on their own but they were always there to enjoy the benefits.
If you can’t stand for something you deserve nothing.
Bts saying no to that award taught me a good life lesson. Don't be scared to walk away from things which do not value you. Do not hesitate to stand for what's right even if it was a dream/meant something in the past. Thanks @BTS_twt
Other artists boycotted the Grammys as a response to not receiving nominations or wins for a specific release.
BTS made this decision to send a message against xenophobia, knowing they had a guaranteed WIN.
Kathy Khang an American author best known for Raise Your Voice and Loving Disagreement, books about faith, justice, and navigating difficult conversations. She also showed her support for BTS’ Grammy boycott🔥🔥👏👏
Grammy-winning R&B legend and original Broadway The Wiz star Stephanie Mills🔥🔥👏👏👏👏 showed her support for BTS by sharing Rolling Stone India’s post about BTS pulling ARIRANG from Grammy consideration, calling their decision “so brave” and saying, “I admire these young men💛” 💜👏👏👏
okay but can we talk about how as soon as the ig stories dropped literally all of army immediately backed their decision even tho we were alr doing everything to prep 😭 this is what bts have built with army. complete faith in their decisions and belief in their artistry.

I hope yall realize how much courage it takes to willingly give up on a 100% chance to win awards just to show the world that good music should be respected and listened to without any labels. THIS is what we call paving the way
Just to be clear, Harvey Mason Jr and the Grammys are saying that Asian artists belong in the Asian category instead of Best Pop Duo or Group, Best Pop Vocal Album because under the rules, only one version of a recording is eligible in a performance category in any year
Asia is not just kpop, jpop or cpop.
Who are you to even categorize whole of Asia into one category?
there are east asians, indian subcontinent, arabs, russians and many more in Asia.
Putting the most diverse continent into one category is the most stupid thing.
