I have called on Corporate Kenya to move beyond traditional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which remains episodic, Programme based and disconected from enterprise strategy and embrace Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) as a strategic driver of investment, climate action and sustainable economic growth.

Speaking today, during the Kenya Corporate Sustainability & Leadership Forum, I emphasized that the inaugural Kenya Tree Economy Initiative (KETEI) provides an important platform for Government, the private sector and scientific institutions to strengthen partnerships and accelerate Kenya’s transition to a sustainable and nature-positive economy.

ESG presents significant opportunities in landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, carbon markets and sustainable value chains. Responsible investment in our environment can unlock access to green finance, enhance business competitiveness and safeguard the natural resources upon which our economy and livelihoods depend.

I have challenged corporate leaders to view ESG not as a compliance burden, but as a competitive advantage, and to invest in nature-based solutions while building credible, measurable and science-based sustainability programmes.

The State Department for Environment and Climate Change remains committed to creating an enabling policy environment and strengthening partnerships with the private sector, scientific institutions, development partners and communities to scale up climate action, landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation and sustainable investments.

Through initiatives such as KETEI, we will continue to support the growth of Kenya’s tree economy, create green jobs, strengthen resilient livelihoods and build a sustainable, climate-resilient future for all.

Cucurella y su esposa Claudia empezaron a notar comportamientos distintos en la escuela infantil. Mateo jugaba solo mientras los demás niños interactuaban en grupo. Llegó el diagnóstico. Y llegaron los meses que Claudia describió así: "Todos los días íbamos juntos a dejar a Mateo y volvíamos a casa llorando."

Lo que nadie sabe es que el fichaje de Cucurella por el Real Madrid en 2026, por 55 millones de euros, tuvo menos que ver con el fútbol que con un mapa de terapeutas. La familia buscó qué ciudad ofrecía mejores recursos especializados para Mateo. "Lo primero que miramos son los colegios y las terapias. Madrid lo tiene todo", explicó Marc. El lateral izquierdo que ha ganado una Copa del Mundo eligió su próximo club en función de lo que necesitaba su hijo.

El jugador que ha levantado la Copa del Mundo con España el 19 de julio en Nueva York lleva desde los tres años de Mateo construyendo una vida en paralelo al fútbol: buscando especialistas, eligiendo colegios, aprendiendo a entender un trastorno que el mundo todavía comprende mal.

Fue campeón del mundo el domingo. El lunes, Mateo seguía siendo lo primero. ¡Hoy cumple años este gran hombre ! ¡Felicidades Cucurella!
