AFRICA'S HEALTH AGENDA
"Let us turn commitments into budgets, budgets into programmes, programmes into measurable results, and measurable results into longer, healthier and more productive lives for our people.”
~ Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, Former President Tanzania

AFRICA'S HEALTH AGENDA
"Africa has not suffered from a shortage of ideas, strategies or innovations. What Africa needs is implementation.”
~ Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, Former President Tanzania

Twenty-five years ago, Africa made a promise.
In Abuja, African leaders committed to prioritizing health through increased domestic investment.
Today, the challenge is no longer a lack of evidence. It is a lack of financing at the scale needed to match our ambitions.
The science is compelling:
🔹 Nearly 2 million mothers and babies could be saved by 2030.
🔹 6.4 million lives could be saved by 2040.
🔹 The solutions already exist. They are tested, costed, and ready to scale.
So what is missing?
✔️Sustainable financing.
✔️Strong accountability.
✔️Bold political leadership.
On 20 July 2026, leaders, policymakers, development partners, and health advocates will gather in Accra for a High-Level Policy Dialogue co-convened by the African Renaissance Trust and the H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation, on the margins of the AU Extraordinary Summit on Health.
Featuring:
• H.E. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Former President of the United Republic of Tanzania
• H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana
• H.E. Amb. Amma Twum-Amoah, African Union Commissioner, Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development
This is where financing meets leadership, innovation meets accountability, and commitments begin to translate into measurable action.
Because Africa's next health breakthrough won't come from discovering new solutions, it will come from delivering the ones we already have.
