Schools are now structured so that the overwhelming number of student misbehaviors essentially have ZERO consequences.
This is horrible for teachers…but it’s even worse for the students who want to learn!
Another 95% sanction mandate!
@SaskTeachersFed members are united and committed to fighting for a collective agreement that improves our working conditions (which are students’ learning conditions) and improves teachers’ compensation.
Anybody else super frustrated by the lead story this morning on CTV that notes that school divisions releasing their new budgets say they DON’T have enough money to address class size and complexity?
WHY did they sign the MFA?
This is exactly why teachers struck this year!
I am an STF teacher. I am confident that the president, executive, and senior STF leadership are representing my views, listening to teachers, and are standing up for public education. This is a flimsy attempt to create an appearance of division in a unified membership. #weareSTF
Truth! @STFPresident has been handling this as a professional - a true leader - as she helps teachers navigate a very difficult time and deals with delicate situations. Honoured to have Sam as our Federation President. #ISupportSTF
This analogy by @jeremycockrill to describe negotiating tactics being used by the @STF is, IMO, inappropriate & offensive. As teachers, we work diligently to create safe school environments, free of comments like this. Please consider the impact of your words moving forward.
@PremierScottMoe What is your deal with all these lies? @PremierScottMoe@jeremycockrill this is such a disappointment on so many levels. Quit wasting everyone’s time with these games and start bargaining in good faith with some maturity and integrity.
Teachers are ready to get back to the table as soon as the GTBC has the authority to engage in real negotiations. How long will government prolong the uncertainty?
Class complexity is impacted by increasing numbers of students who require additional supports, which include additional language supports, counselling, reading and speech interventions or other learning needs. Class complexity isn't only 'behavioural incidents'.
Students and teachers deserve better. We have tried everything possible to avoid these actions, but the @SaskParty government refuses to make commitments through negotiations with teachers around improving conditions in classrooms and schools across the province.

The @SKGov budget gives $17.5 million of our tax dollars to private independent schools.
Funding independent schools IS the privatization of education.
Public funds belong in public education.
