Frosted Faces Foundation is a worthy, reputable organization.

They save lives every day; senior dogs and cats who would make perfect companions, but because of their age, might be ignored. FFF gives them hope, gives them an extra chance.

The Foundation offers tours and Open Houses. There’s nothing quite like sitting on the patio in the “Littles” yard and having 20 tiny, senior dogs come hopping over for pets. They’re absolutely filled with love. You’ll be filled with love too! There are also yards for “bigs” and special accommodations for dogs and cats who need a little extra TLC. Visit them! YOU WILL LOVE IT! (Ramona, CA, San Diego County)

Driving on the street (in US). Came to 4-way intersection, traffic light. Want to turn left. Enter the left-turn lane, two cars in front. In my state, left turns are controlled by left-turn arrow signal.

Arrow turns green, first car in front goes left, through the intersection. Arrow turns yellow, second car in front goes left, through the intersection. We approach the turn, arrow turns red. We’re stopped.

Husb is driving: Crap, gotta wait now.

Me: It’s ok honey. You’ll be first next.

— Something odd about “first next”.

If you’re next, a prev car is presumed. But if you’re first, no prev car is presumed.

ChatGPT tells me “this is an ellipsis—omitting words that listeners easily reconstruct. The full sentence is:

“You’ll be first the next time.”

Our brains fill in the missing material automatically.

English often drops the understood words, especially in conversation.

It’s similar to saying:

Hi Gaston, I LOVE Patrick Stewart as Picard, so I tried “Picard.” Felt like it started ok, but I couldn’t get into it. The Data’s daughter plot, her special powers, memories, etc. Too much for me. I think I was watching it just for Picard. (I also love his graceful, lovely retirement setting in the vineyard. That was just fun to contemplate.) He’s a v cool character.

Had a friend who attended a Shakespeare festival in the UK. Patrick Stewart was one of the actors, and my friend ran into him in a bathroom. My friend works at NASA Ames, big space nut. All excited to meet Captain Picard. Didn’t ask for a selfie or anything, but asked Patrick if he liked doing classic theatre or StarTrek. Patrick said he loved the theatre. My friend asked him why he did Star Trek. Patrick said, gotta pay bills. 🤣 We’re all human, I guess!

AFA chips and body part implants are concerned, I’m all for them. If we can extend lifespans and get better, eliminate pain, eliminate disease, let’s bring it on!

That said, gotta consciously focus on our interior lives as well. Thinking, art, literature - gotta keep these kinds of things alive too.

Anthony Hopkins composed “And the Waltz Goes On” when he was a 26-year-old piano student in 1964 but never released it because feared nobody would like it. 47 years later, his wife, Stella Arroyave, discovered the forgotten music and sent it to Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu.

Rieu loved the composition so much that he arranged the piece for his Johann Strauss Orchestra.

In 2011, Hopkins sat in an audience in Vienna to hear his forgotten music composition being performed live by Rieu and his orchestra for the very first time. He was visibly moved to tears.

We do senior dog rescue, and we always have a parade of senior dogs marching through our house. We don’t always have them for long, but their final chapter is always loving.❤️🐾
